  1. It's either the fan or the fan controller. You get both as a replacement kit. Fairly simple DIY job. Dormans are cheap and worked for me but others have had issues. Other aftermarket brands are worse. Motorcraft is the best option. www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12731-radiator-fan-assembly-replacement-procedure
  2. One person's awesome convenience is another person's nightmare. Stop using additives and move to a safer city.
  3. They can't just walk up and put something in the tank without the special adapter. And it has anti-siphon feature to prevent theft.
  4. Especially when you consider how many 3.5L engines (and I assume 3.7?) have been sold by Ford over the last decade+.
  5. Short trips (3-4 miles) will absolutely kill mpg on newer engines due to emissions regulations.
  6. S And so will the sync 3 updates once they get all of the update bugs worked out.

    Radiator Fan?

Check the coolant level. It's ok if they run too much. The problem is when they don't run enough and it overheats. If it's not overheating I wouldn't worry about it.
  8. Actually it's not a CD3 issue - the engine is used in multiple platforms. But your point is correct - this only affects a tiny fraction of engines. It's terrible when it does happen but it isn't a widespread problem.
  9. RE: reviews. I've noticed on movie reviews the difference between a really good movie and a really bad movie is about half a star. No movies get less than 4 stars from moviegoers - even the terrible ones. I don't even go by overall ratings any more - I read some of the great ratings and some of the bad ratings to see what they're liking or not liking and whether there is a pattern. I just put a new epoxy-like coating on the garage floor. All the bad reviews complained about hot tire pickup or peeling or a non-uniform gloss all of which points to poor surface prep, not a product defect. Used it with no problems.
  10. Depends on whether you're in the 5%.
  11. I would have to agree that the water pump location is not ideal, is way more expensive to replace and that a failure can easily take out the entire engine. But I'm sure they had a good reason to do it that way.
  12. I can say for sure the hidden hitch doesn't block the kick to open liftgate sensor at all. I've heard complaints about the other models (curt, draw-tite) blocking it more and that was the case for sure on our 2014 Escape.
  13. I've had the same issue with my Fusion for the last 4 years. I think it's how the CD4 platform hvac works. Our 2016 MKX seems to work the same. I also like to keep it on 72 and more often than not the A/C will blow cold when you first start the vehicle even if it's below 60 outside. If you bump it up to 73 it stops. I thought maybe it was a bad sensor but then I noticed others reporting the same and on our MKX. I think it's just how it's programmed. Next time try bumping it to 73 at startup then back to 72 after a few minutes.
  14. At some point they started using multiple sensors not just one for each side - I thought that was the 2015 Edge and later on CD4 but not positive. Make sure the system is in full auto mode by hitting the auto button, then hold the auto button for a few seconds to make sure it's in single mode (one temp for the whole cabin) and not dual mode (different temps for driver and passenger) just to get everything to a known state. Then play around with the temp setting. Outside temp does play a factor as well as direct sunlight (there is a sensor on the dash) but generally speaking if the ambient air is 76-80 and you set it to 74 you should get cold air. If not it could be a bad sensor or a bad hvac controller.
  15. That's a nice alternative to Ruby Red which I like a little better but it's been on almost every Ford vehicle for the last 5 years. This is definitely unique. Very similar to my 2000 Autumn Red Lincoln LS.
  16. I'm the one who isn't looking at things objectively? I didn't ignore enigma-2's post. Perhaps you're the one who ignored the details of the recall. This is not the same issue as the original airbag - the problem is completely different. And since it's only 32000 vehicles it's either a bad batch from the supplier or an installation problem and Ford found it before anyone was injured. How is that Ford not paying attention? I'm sorry but I take things very literally and I can't stand it when someone says something contradicted by facts. As for the sync3 thing I never said anything about sync3 being beta. What I said was the software wasn't ready for public distribution and Ford must have had a good reason for not releasing it. I still say part of the delay was waiting for the new apple carplay hubs to be stocked up. I have over 30 years in IT and I understand what happens behind the scenes with software so I'm more forgiving than most might be. But that doesn't mean I'm not being objective. Quite the opposite. Ford screwed up when they said it would be ready last summer and it's over 6 months late. That's what you should be complaining about.
  17. If they caught it after only 32,000 vehicles that tells me they were paying attention.
  18. Water pump. It's internal to the engine.
  19. And reliability. I still think it may cause wheel bearing issues at the least.
  20. As long as you aren't used to the off the line torque of the EB engines you won't miss it.
