It's important to remember that dealers are independent businesses and Ford really has no control over how they conduct their business in the states due to state auto franchise laws. I assume Canada is similar. It's to prevent the mfrs from bullying the dealers but it really just allows bad dealers to continue doing business and ruining the Ford name on their logo. Every time Ford has tried to impose higher customer service standards they get sued and lose in court. You really do have to shop around for a good dealer. If there are no good ones in your area you're screwed.

Which draw tite hitch to go with.
akirby replied to palmstatecrawler's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
I believe it's additional tranny and oil coolers. I don't think the springs are different but you can go to fordparts.com and see if they have different part numbers for springs with and without towing pkg. -
2013 Edge and 2014 Fusion are on different platforms which probably explains the inconsistent behavior. I don't think it's something you can fix.

I removed the bumper - it was pretty easy. MKX might be different than the Edge. I think I may have had to remove a small screw but I don't remember removing the actual heat shield itself. This was over a year ago so not sure. -

I did not have to remove the heat shield on my 2016 MKX with the hidden hitch (FWD). -
Leaving fob in car ??
akirby replied to Blmkso's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
To lock an IA vehicle touch the top of the door handle on the raised ridges. The fob has to be within 3 feet or so. -
Dealerships are not owned or controlled by Ford. You should try another dealership.

I hope that was sarcasm.......

They both show up as USB devices and you can choose between them.

Rear spoiler looses paint rapidly

Most likely. Check Fordparts.com or any online parts catalog - they usually have pictures showing the connectors/screws. -

Obviously it needs to be sanded and primed. If it's plastic you need a special adhesion promoter. Then it's normal painting. You can get complete kits from paintscratch.com and other sources that include spray can basecoat, midcoat (if needed) and clearcoat and associated rubbing compounds, sandpaper, etc. They work great and aren't super expensive. -
There are plenty of remote thermometers in the BBQ world. A flame boss paired with a cell phone as a wifi hotspot should work, but it ain't cheap. Would work almost anywhere though. You can get an inexpensive maverick but it only has a range of 100 ft or so max (or thereabouts).

Leaving fob in car ??
akirby replied to Blmkso's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Not if you use the keypad to lock it. It disables the fob. It should not cause any extra drain on the battery but you never know. -
20" to 21" wheels, do I need to reprogram my odometer?
akirby replied to roots57's topic in Wheels & Tires
Also consider that as the tires wear over time they'll change circumference by more than 1% just due to normal treadwear. -

The factory speedo isn't even within 1% accuracy as far as I know. I wouldn't worry about it. -
Just so we're clear they can't void the entire warranty. They can only deny claims against affected components like wheel bearings e.g.

The way this works is that to get more performance from the engine the pcm advances the timing which delays igniting the spark plug to get more compression and more power. If you advance it too much it can ignite prematurely (before the spark plug fires) and/ or ignite in multiple spots both of which cause knock or pinging which is bad. The factory pcm can usually advance the timing to a certain degree to get more performance from premium but it will also retard timing to allow use of lower octanes as well without damage. The tuners take this to the max (timing advance) for the best possible performance on 91 or 93 octane but it may not be able to retard it enough to run safely on 87 like the factory settings.

Exterior Key Pad - No code...
akirby replied to nittanydoug's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
My bad - I thought you had to enter the code for that. FWIW that has never worked on my Fusion. I wonder if my 9/0 button is faulty. I'll have to test it again on the MKX. I usually have the other fob and use that to leave the other one in the vehicle. -
Cadillac horns?

Exterior Key Pad - No code...
akirby replied to nittanydoug's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
That should be 7/8 and 9/0 at the same time. And unlock all doors by adding a 3/4 to the end. Correct. Think about it - if the vehicle is unlocked then anyone can open the door, press the door lock button and close it. This is just a shortcut. Unless the fob is inside the vehicle, then you need the code to lock it. -
It's also possible the algorithm was changed or they didn't fully implement it on all vehicles early on.

CV joint/boot? Did you try jacking up the wheels and turning them by hand?

No but I'm patiently waiting for gran turismo sport on PS4.
