K&N Filter? Yes or No
cal3thousand replied to dtappeiner's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
It wasn't me.... this time. I'll be honest, on this site, some things need to come back up. It's either that or we start new threads and lose old replies. And I bet this 2+ YO thread was on the 2nd page of some section though. K&N PN for Edge Drop in Panel filter is KN-33-2395. They are going for about $50 right now. -
Congrats on the purchase. You chose an excellent time to get back with Ford. They are really doing some good things. You know they are doing big things when a previously anti-Ford guy absolutely loves his Edge (I used to say Found On Road Dead when someone mentioned FORD). Shoot, I used to hate Mustangs BUT have nothing but good things to say about them now. Mulally FTW!

But it does look good! I like the ride height and extra clearance, so I wouldn't lower it unless I can get a kick ass airbag suspension. Lower it just a bit for better aerodynamics and handling on the highway, or drop it to the ground for easy entry / loading, raise it up when you need ground clearance. ... I would love to be able to park it on its belly (let's see a tow truck get under that )
-
Sounds right to me. I didn't get the AWD but I got White Tri-Coat and Tow package and it was just under what you have... so it seems right.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't usually enjoy that much downtime, but that means that they are doing something potentially meaningful.

Is the problem with SYNC or my stereo?
cal3thousand replied to Jabawockiz's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
What version of the firmware do you have? I think that most of us on the 2.7 are seeing very little problems. I had my first Navigation reset yesterday when on a Bluetooth call and trying to back up at the same time. But nothing like what you are seeing. Hopefully you get it sorted out. If anything, make sure that the dealer knows about every little issue that comes up. If they eventually recall the system, you will have documented errors with the dealer. -

Process is to find Transmission cooler line going INTO the radiator (flow-wise) and pull it making sure to have spare o-rings and clamps. Put end in a bucket, start engine and let it run out about 1-2 litres and shut off engine. Make sure you shut it off if/when bubbles start to appear. I generally do it earlier.... about 1.25 liters in. Fill the car with the same amount of ATF as removed. Repeat process until nothing but clean fluid comes out. have a beer and enjoy the extra cash.

:yup: That's him. As you can see, it's 8mil 3M. I just got the PDF coverage file and it's excellent! I'm pretty sure I'm dropping the $100 on this. He seems legit too. Here's a link to the full on PDF if you want it: 2011 Edge Coverage PDF -
You probably didn't miss it. As I read the manual, I notice that it "describes" more than "explains". It tells you things you can visually detect yourself most of the time instead of the logic behind it. For example, it tells you that you can set the fuel economy graphs to 5 mins, 10 mins or 30 mins... Well... duh... I can see that those are my only 3 choices. But it should tell you that 5 mins is not each bar, but all the bars combined equal 5 mins. So on the 5 min setting, each bar represents 1 minutes. Its that type of stuff that makes people not reference the manual.

Yes, they are. But I don't always have my car and/or manual with me opposed to my smartphone, which goes everywhere with me (yes, even the bathroom ) Thought it would be nice to have on a site I planned on frequenting. I found it on the Sylvania website while on my computer because I was shopping for LEDs and did not have my manual accessible. Only thing I've bought online while in my car was chicken strips from Wingstop As a Mod, I would think you wanted more of this information on the site to build its resources and activity.... no? -
K&N Filter? Yes or No
cal3thousand replied to dtappeiner's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I've used K&N on all my cars. It may let more dirt in at the very beginning, but after a weeks use, its going to filter better than paper. And of course, flow is no-brainer. The oil grabs the dirt and keeps it in, making the filter even more effective. The reason these things are not stock on cars is 1) general public will might over oil and ruin a MAF sensor 2) They make money on paper filters and charging you to change them 3) They cost more to make. In the long run, you will save much money on using a K&N air filter. Heck, I still have the same re-oil kit from 2003 with more than half left. -
This is something that we need to have on this site for easy reference, if there are 2 bulbs listed for the same application, pull the bulb and check: 2011 FORD Edge (With HID (high intensity discharge) headlamps): High & low beam headlamp HID-D3S Parking light 3457A Front turn signal 3457A Rear turn signal 3757A Tail light 3157 Stop light 3157 High mount stop light LED License plate 168 Back up light 921 Front sidemarker LED Rear sidemarker 3157 Map light 2825 Dome light 578 Step/Courtesy light 37 578 2011 FORD Edge (With halogen capsule headlamps) High & low beam headlamp 9012 all else is the same as the HID Limited models 2010 FORD Edge and older: Low beam headlamp H11 High beam headlamp 9005 Parking light 3157A Front turn signal 3157A Rear turn signal 4157 Tail light 4157 Stop light 4157 High mount stop light LED Fog/Driving light H11 License plate 168 Back up light 921 Rear sidemarker 194 Map light 2825 Dome light 578 Step/Courtesy light 2825 37 ____________________________________________________

I'm going to play necromancer and bring this thread back. 1) Because it should be a sticky 2) This site is sooooo light on traffic, a thread like this deserves to pop back in action. Thanks for writing this in one place. You'll end up saving me massive amounts of time. Going to buy my LEDs right now.

Replacing the ugly BLUE FORD EMBLEM
cal3thousand replied to olperez1's topic in Accessories & Modifications
It's not that. IF I were to go with the dark look, then doing something original with the grille could look really good. otherwise, If I stay with the white theme, I will leave the grille as chrome. But I do like the chrome grille. It's Ford's most stylish and power grille at the moment. -
There are chemicals that will remove it, but you need to find the right ones. Something that will have a molecular affect.

Try this site: http://www.patriotdecals.com/ They'll make custom ones. I'm thinking white or red. EDITS: apparently they are under scrutiny from Ford about using the logo. Found a DIY!!! get crackin! http://www.fordf150.net/howto/customemblems.php Also found a guy selling them, but he is on hiatus until June 1: http://planetauto.homestead.com/chromeemblems.html
