  1. Mnunes77..... here's your chance. And it's a whole $125 cheaper.
  2. I have that kind of luck too. Last car was t-boned 3 weeks into ownership. 2 weeks in the shop. Got her back and not one week later, a hit and run. Only thing the driver left behind were parts to his Lincoln.
  3. Good share! I know that my door is a bit out of whack, but I can't take it to the original dealer until I have a full day off due to distance. Not sure if you want to spend the money, but Job #2 2011 mirrors were redesigned to address wind noise issues.
  4. We know it will work while parked. The problem is that the unit shuts off functions based on speed. Try getting into Valet Mode or change the Keypad code while in motion. It will ghost those buttons and disable them until you are sufficiently stopped.
  5. I've been thinking about the same thing. I think clear bra material might be what the doctor ordered. OR another option would be the CQuartz nano coating that Richy recommended for paint. You can cover all kinds of surfaces with it and it will make it smooth and scratch resistant.
  6. Junkyards are rarely going to have Edges. They would have to be pretty messed up to get the total loss tag. BUT there are some salvage yards that will have some random parts... maybe full cars here and there in various remote lots. Best advice I have is to try www.car-part.com They will hook you up with JYs that have parts you are looking for. I purchased an T5 engine for my Volvo this way last year for about $600.00
  7. Pandora works fine through bluetooth as well.. even the steering wheel and touch controls; at least that's how it is on my CM7 MyTouch 4G.
  8. That's good to hear. We need more people that are satisfied to speak up. It seems people only post when they have problems.
  9. Sounds like you have faulty ambient lighting system. Something loose or not working. could be just one branch as you indicated. And remember, it is a car... so it is not going to be perfect. Even hand-built $100k+ cars are not always perfect. So many components and sources give many possibilities for something to be off. Having said that, they need to fix it. That's what warranties are for. Hopefully it's a quick fix. Good luck.
  10. Hopefully an update to V2.8 will smooth things out SYNC-wise. What are you on now? As for the liftgate, that's part of the operation. Starting the car requires much of the amperage available from the system and overrides the power liftgate. I hate to say it, but it's in the manual. I thought it strange too, but that's how it is, not a glitch.
  11. Treat it just like your paint. I think polish is a personal choice. There's so many people that will tell you different things. Look for posts from Richy. He's one of the resident detailers and can give you all sorts of details. I'm actually going to take his recommendation and try out CQuartz nano coating on my car. Might be good for rims too.
  12. craigslist would be the best place for under 200. They run about 250 on eBay.
  13. I've noticed that the transmission sometimes has a brainfart, but I'm not certain of what gears. Usually downshifting out of 6th to pass is a pain, as the tranny thinks before hitting the right gear.
  14. I wanted 18"s the whole way... So when the car I was about to get was sold to someone else before financing approved, I actually lucked out. Ended up with the same car but 18s and I think the ride is better. The 20s are heavier and only the Sport has a specially developed suspension to handle the 22s.
  15. To the OP: This site makes it seem like the SoundScreen is something they repair and they don't mention the need for anything special: http://www.bestwindshieldrepairstlouis.com/blog4.html
  16. Every year huh? Ouch ... that's rough. In So. California, I feel like it's tires that get that sort of abuse. Nails, screws, and potholes everywhere. Luckily, the gravel is sparse. Probably cheaper insurance since there aren't as many people around? So many cars and tight parking spots here. I find myself parking a mile out to keep my baby from door dings. What about paint chips? clear bra?
  17. That looks easy. But in my opinion, those kind of have a cheapish look compared to the real Audi lights. But If you are going that route, check out this kit: its only 13 bucks and uses the same strip leds: http://www.v-leds.co...884454-1-3.html OR http://www.v-leds.co...561957-1-3.html This second link is probably better: 12" of that stuff with the leads wired is only 8.79 each.... so $17 bucks for both sides. For the same price that you are getting at that one site, you could get 2 - 24inch strips. That's way more than enough for our headlights. I'm ordering a super long section of this stuff and using it for auxiliary body/interior lights (glove box for sure), cutting it as I see fit. EDITED: bammer grammar
  18. On new cars and most insurance, Yes. But I had comprehensive on my Volvo (older car) which included glass insurance from Progressive. They would not replace my glass with Pilkington (OEM) under the glass insurance. They said for that, I would have to make a comprehensive claim and pay my $250 deductible.
  19. I HATE those things. It slows the pages down and makes navigating them a pain in the cheeks.
  20. I wonder if this SoundScreen costs more to replace. Some insurance companies will not offer an OEM replacement, but only one that "fits the bill"; YMMV Does anyone know which Edges have SoundScreen? Is it all of them after a certain date? or is it trim dependent?
  21. Well... at least in a year, you can look back and have a story to tell. I'm sure everything will work out in the end. Doesn't seem like an unfixable situation. Good Luck and let us know what happens.
  22. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to try it out.
  23. They would have to be careful not to damage the vinyl that is sandwiched between the sheets of glass. If it is just a chip, I don't think they will drill. I think they will just fill the surface flat as possible. EDIT: I am not a glass repair expert, this is only my conjecture based on experience with normal glass and (light) understanding of what the Carlite SoundScreen is made of.
