  1. They should be able to get it to work with those specs. While my phone is way faster, Sync/MFT doesn't have the burden of fancy animations nor 720p video. Don't get me wrong, a stronger more modern chip would be great and wouldn't have cost much more at this scale.
  2. Volvos (world I come from) have been using coil packs since about 98 or 99 with a variable cam. They are 4 stroke engines, but they only spark compression with the crank sensor for reference. Sparking on exhaust on those engines would be no good as they run stoich off-boost, but on-boost, they run rich to avoid detonation.
  3. I haven't installed one, but the factory type alarm is this one: P/N: 7L3Z-19A361-AA-E09 Alarm off topic: Yulee, FL huh? I just got back to So Cal after visiting Amelia Island for a wedding. In-laws live out in Old Nassauville.
  4. Didn't know that... I assume that these exhaust stroke sparks are inaudible/undetectable to the naked ear though?
  5. Seems to me the "Alaska only" things are nothing short of awesome. Dinner table sized halibut comes to mind.

  6. I was debating back and forth (in my own head) regarding AWD vs. FWD and came to the same conclusion. Its not really needed for the type of conditions I see. Also for your situation, carrying around a couple wood boards along the side of your trailer for the really slippery ramps is good insurance.
  7. Funny thing, I was going to suggest a fuse 29 pull, but since I'm on an older version, I'm not one to be giving advice on this build. Glad its better now. I'm going back to my original dealer to have them re align some body parts, so I guess I'll let them take care of that and my "free oil change" (even though I want to change it myself)
  8. I know that in my previous car (Volvo 850) you had to short the reference wire to another point, basically disabling the check on that portion of the circuit. There has to be a way to accomplish the same thing on the SJB BUT, load resistors work and should be installed in parallel to the circuit near the LEDs, no real cutting of wires necessary like here: http://cbrworld.net/forums/thread/141166.aspx
  9. You're putting the load in parallel to the circuit right? For LEDs that need no equalizer, check for "CANBUS LED" (not to be confused with cannibus ) or "No Error LED" EDIT: I just replied to that other thread you posted in: http://www.fordedgef...nction-box-sjb/
  10. Now I get it. Starbucks and Coffee Bean pretty much put out the small coffee industry out here. So we get the cups with the little hole to drink from, no sticker (as far as I know) All this thinking has gotten me seriously interested in making a cover. Make it like a fighter pilot's missile fire button. just kidding...
  11. That's another thread that didn't really lead anywhere. 2 suggestions on how to cover it and the rest stating whether or not it happens to them. TTIWWOP
  12. If it makes you feel any better, the full Nav isn't all that. I still find myself whipping out the phone (MT4G CM7) and using the Google Maps Navigation. I just turn on the Bluetooth and have the directions pipe over the speakers.
  13. I've gotten used to not putting my finger there. Used to do it a good 2-3 times a week at the beginning What's this coffee sticker thingy you speak of? (I drink Monster)
  14. To be fair, you are describing "HID kitting" instead of HID retrofitting, which normally includes replacing the projector with a factory HID projector that properly focuses the light. I agree that HID kitting is dangerous in some senses and that HID retrofitting is definitely the way to go. ....and thanks for reminding us of the legal status of HID kits Shameless plug: "I have one pair of projectors, shroud, etc if anyone is interested in getting their 07-10 legally bright. PM me. "
  15. That's sucks ... keep us posted. I've been wanting to get the v2.7 thinking it would solve my random freezes etc.... Now, I'm thinking I should wait until after v3+
  16. That's is a bit low. I'm getting about 19 MPG with a 50-50 mix (LA commute traffic) on 18" wheels. That includes about 30-60 seconds idle upon start and about 2-3 minutes idle when dropping my kid off at daycare before I hit the road and then 30-60 seconds idle before I go home. I also noticed that my mileage is better when I switch the display between the 10 minute fuel efficiency and instant efficiency screens. I guess psychologically, I'm coasting longer and hitting less kick downs when I keep an eye on the gas.
  17. Sounds high? does it not sound like 600? What kind of engine layout are you used to? I'm coming from a 5 cylinder car that idled at 850-950 rpm, so its a nice change to be less high strung. The Edge, being a 6 cylinder, still sparks 1800 times in a minute at idle (6cyl * 600rpm * 0.5 spark per rotation) compared to a 4 Cylinder that idles 600 (e.g. Honda) would spark only 1200 times in that same minute. What kind of mileage are you getting?
  18. Piece of silly putty would work... of course it would look pretty silly as well. Would anyone be interested in a plastic or silicone insert that would cover the button until it's needed?
  19. Sounds right to me. I'm glad it doesn't idle any higher for MPG reasons.
  20. There's no class 3 option as the drivetrain / suspension would not be sufficient to handle 5000lbs. As for the class II, you can get the hitch installed at the dealer, but they will most likely just outsource the work anyways. Get the upgraded cooling bits if you are serious about towing near the Class II limits.
  21. I've tried to do it with my Android as well. Trying it as an RNDIS USB modem does not work. I think that it is certainly possible, but something has to happen on the MFT side to allow it. I think we are all waiting for a big update that will include this function. Hopefully they will open it up and allow tethering from smartphones.
  22. I Leased an Edge Limited in April after dealing with my wife's complaints of my previous car. My old 1994 Volvo 850 was too loud (Magnaflow), too stiff (Bilsteins and H&Rs), and too small for our growing family (daughter is turning 3 in June). I previously rented an 2008 Edge for a week while I was swapping in a new motor in my 850 and enjoyed the extra room, ground clearance, nearly identical MPG. I wasn't too thrilled about the styling of the car, so we explored different options (mostly subaru, volvo, and some others, new and used) Then comes along the 2011 Edge with improvements in most of the areas I found important including styling (I think they really hit the nail on the head with this design). After doing more research, I felt it was a good time to buy as car supply would go down and prices up with the whole Japanese earthquake and a thriving new car sales market heading into Summer. I made sure to get the tow package as I planned on getting outdoors more often. I really wanted the Vista roof and the Roof Rails, but we know that was not an option. Did my research and found it was possible to add a rack later (pretty much impossible to add the BAMR later )
  23. Seems right to me. At 60 MPH, I get more than 30MPG. Was this foot controlled or computer controlled?
  24. Could also just be a defective belt. My previous car had a squeak like that after I swapped the engine out. I used the old belt (which was almost new) but I ran over it with the loaded cherry picker while dropping the new motor in. That little defect (almost invisible to the eye, but you could feel it along the belt edge) caused squeaking which would be alleviated by belt dressing and went away as the engine warmed, but would come back after it dried up and the belt cooled. I had to pull the belt and shave the defect with a razor blade. If they pull the belt, or if you do, run your finger along the whole side (both) of the belt and make sure you don't feel any artifacts.
