  1. If our hubs are larger than the Flex it will benefit us. All you would need to do is take the wheels to a machine shop to bore it out to match the hub. Wouldn't cost much at all.
  2. I took mine off to wrap my grille. It's a very easy process. Takes about 10 minutes. First time is a bit scary as you don't exactly know what it's like to pop off the bumper cover. Here's a blurb I put together to help another member about the 2011 (check the link at the bottom): I did not have to jack up the vehicle to open the wheel well. There's actually 3 hex screws (7/32" IIRC) or 5.5mm. I honestly feel that only those 3 would be require to work in this area. BUT since it is so easy to remove the bumper cover, I would pull the whole thing and work on it in my living room or something. What I did was lay a utility blanket down and pulled off the Bumper Cover and lay it on it's face. Steps to remove front bumper: open hood unscrew 4 plastic screws and remove the 4 anchors ( you'll see what I mean ) loosen the 2 hex screws in front of the anchors (don't remove them) unscrew and remove the 7/32" fender screws in the wheel well (3 each side) Look inside the well and locate the screws that are upside down holding the bottom of the bumper cover to the car. (6-8 or so?) On each side, locate above the wheel well, the area where the fender meets the bumper cover. Put your fingers inside on the bumper cover and pull it back until it unclips from the fender (it will pop slightly and you might be apprehensive at first. But if made sure to get all the screws, nothing should break. Also unclip the pigtail for the light bars on both sides. After you have done both sides and have laid down utility blanket or cardboard, remove the last 2 screws that you loosened in the 3rd step. At this point, you should be able to lift the whole face off and lay it down. Be careful, as it will have a tendency to fall on its face if just stood up. Here's the instructions I used. It was for a 07-10 model, but everything is essentially the same: http://mechanixtrix....x?ArticleId=405
  3. Do you have experience with both and prefer Aquapel? I ask as I am interested in something for next season.
  4. Well, if you really want the feature and find out that it cannot be programmed in, know that you could have it accomplished with a couple relays and a capacitor or timer. OR buy an aftermarket alarm with the feature built-in. Are you electrically inclined? or are you looking for someone to install something for you?
  5. haha... awesome! I've been using that stuff for a couple years now but never noticed the name Makes me feel good to know I've been using something that a detailing pro uses. BTW, I just got some Optimum No Rinse and a Cobra Total MF kit. I'm excited to wash my car!
  6. Edge Limited and MKX have Bi-Xenon HIDs. It shows only low beam by use of a cut-off shield mounted inside the projector. A solenoid and spring mechanism move the shield out of the way when you hit the high beams. If you are somewhere quiet, you can hear it as you flash them. It's actually pretty loud in these cars versus some others I've heard (not necessarily a bad thing IMO) EDIT: I should also add that the Halogen equipped 2011+ Edges are Bi-Halogen using the same projector style (but a completely different projector housing optimized for halogen filaments)
  7. No clue. But I'm all ears when I hear Engineering Mode
  8. And I still think the dealer will charge you for punching those magic buttons. If you have a nice dealer, maybe you luck out.
  9. Relay - $5 Wires - $1 Fuse Taps - $6-12 Total = $12-$18 DIY satisfaction = priceless I'm guessing the dealer will charge you for .5 hr labor or more.
  10. It will lock your keys in there too. I leave my IA fob hidden in there if I go swimming or something.
  11. reply with your gmail address or PM me with it.
  12. The pin that is included screws into one side and goes clear through to the other side. Then there's a lock that is included that goes over the open end of the pin, preventing removal. Here's a shot of the extras included in the box. You can see the 9 straps for the 3 bikes in the middle, the right side bag has the hex pin and wrench to install, and the left side bag has the lock that goes on the pin's end with the keys for it:
  13. The cargo gate will not open without tilting that small bit. You could get an extender for the receiver that would handle that, but that could cause driveway clearance issues. (most likely not with the Edge though) The included cable does a good enough job to stop would-be theives in a parking lot. (comes with key and lock built into the arm) But someone that was on the lookout to steal bikes would be able to cut it with the proper tools. I wouldn't store my bikes on it overnight unless in my carport or somewhere in plain view of the public. The rack that I have was purchased online at the REI outlet. Not sure if they will have this item in stores, best to call first. Here's the link to it: http://www.rei.com/product/825336/inno-3-bike-hitch-mount-rack-special-buy
  14. Yes they will fit. and YES your mileage will get better. (unless you had some ultralight aftermarket wheels like ultraleggeras or something)
  15. Did you have any bird poop sit on your car for too long? I've noticed some spots that are almost stained due to bird dookie.
  16. Oh.... either way I still have a retrofit kit that I was going to put into action on my last car. But I'm going to sell the car and still wanted to "tinker" and make a hot set for an Edge. I would have to sell that finished set for $900 - $1000 in order to make any money on it though. Good luck on the sale.
  17. Just read some of the Amazon reviews and saw one that would get me to do more research: My boyfriend loves this bike rack so much more than the latch on he had. His only complaint is that the bikes are really close together on the rack if you have 3 or 4. However my complaints are long... My first complaint is it is very hard to fit a girls or woman's style bike on this rack, it takes extra effort to get it on where the men's style just glides right on. My second complaint is with a 4 bike load it makes it top heavy and the whole thing hits on the street. We drove from Colorado to Oregon with 2 bikes on it and it was still heavy enough to hit in driveways and such unless you drive though them at an angle, which is sometimes impossible to do. I do love that it attaches to the hitch and it swings out so you can still open the back of the car. But even that is a pain, because the heaviness of the bikes you can't unscrew the knob to let it swing out. You literally have to push the bikes back and hold them to take the weight off so you can unscrew it to swing out. I can't do that on my own, which is very inconvenient. I also noticed that a 4 bike version of my 3 Bike rack is going for nearly $300 and the 2 Bike version is $260! I would highly recommend the one I got and it should be at REI's outlet for $160 still.
  18. That looks like a pretty good rack, but I've never heard of that company. From what I've been told, the swing-aways are better for trucks with beds as they get completely out of the way of a downward folding tailgate. With an upward folding gate, the swing-away will still work, but if you are in a tight parking space or a carport, you may have clearance issues swinging it out. Having said that, this rack seems to articulate, solving that issue mostly. I say this because the Edge doesn't need too much room to open the gate due to it's good pivot point. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the review I did for another rack I bought: Inno Bike Rack It touches on some points that might be worth it for you to think about including tailgate contact and hitch mounting and wobble and visibility. BTW, you need a 2" hitch rack if you have the factory Class II Tow Pkg. Do you have the dimensions on this thing? It seems like the bike will be fairly close to the car on this rack. EDIT: just thought about something else, if you are planning to store it somewhere while not in use, make sure you have room for it (unless it folds up smaller) and it looks like this rack might not have anti-sway strapping to keep the bikes from moving and contacting each other. do the arms fold down?

  20. Wash your car and see if it leaks. If it does, it would be from a seam or through a bolt in the top. Could be as simple as some sealant. In the meantime, clean it out with some ammonia and water or steam if you have access to a steamer.
  21. There's no direct replacement. Mod requires removing the bulb housing, and splitting it at the seam, then wiring your own festoon LED in there (some say 31mm some say 35mm), and then sealing and reinstalling. There's a thread here about it. Search LED puddle lights. IIRC Lex Talonis did the thread. I have an alternative LED chip coming in that's not a festoon. Similar to these: http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED-Bulbs/Courtesy-LED/White-LED/HP-LED-6K-WHITE-MULTI-p8248501-1-3.html But I ordered some from Hong Kong that might be a cheaper alternative. I am planning to post a thread once I have them in. Should be here in a week or so from HK.
  22. Check for flat spotting on the tires and make sure they are in balance. Sitting in one spot for too long can deform tires.
  23. WD-40 works wonders. For preventative as well as corrective. It will remove bugs and if you put it on before a road trip, will keep bugs to a minimum.
