  1. I'm not an expert by any means, but it *looks* to me like something did strike it on the left side spreading to the right. Whatever "struck" it must have bounced off... Sounds like insurance needs to pick up this bill.
  2. Car show guys have been doing this for ages when not trailering to meets. Get the 14 day tape if you are going on a long trip, it removes easier. ALWAYS buy 3M (Scotch) Brand tape, no other company's adhesive can compare and you don't want to cheap out on your paint.
  3. I've explained buffeting many times but you, sir, hit the nail on the proverbial head!
  4. Here's photos of the cut you needed to make the license plate lights shine evenly. I cut the left (Drivers) side light hole with these cutters below. The plastic is relatively soft and easy to cut and in a pinch you could probably get the job done with a steak knife (obviously not recommended). I did this hack job (you can see the roughness) in 5 minutes at night without any measuring. Just cut test and recut if necessary (start small!). The cutter is a Pepboys cheapy for $10. I keep it in the car and it has come very handy in many ways.
  5. Thanks for posting it... I will update my coupon post with this as well. To Others: Seems like new ones (coupons) are out all the time so don't pay full price! If we don't have a good code on this thread, check http://www.retailmenot.com
  6. Lemme check my photos to see if I have a shot ready.... If not I will post back today or tomorrow with instructions for all interested parties.
  7. I can verify that no code is thrown. Also, to follow up on my review, I have been very happy with the v-leds lights. At first, I thought I wanted more light back there, but have noticed that they light is actually brighter than stock without being blinding. The car looks very good from a distance when backing up.
  8. There's a bunch of different ones available, but I think a couple members posted about using this one: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Philips-Day-Light-LED-Daytime-Running-Lights-DRL-p/led_ddl_sku_7c.htm
  9. Check this thread http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/7905-led-strip-retrofit-11-limited-diy/
  10. Wow! I'm stoked for ya! Thanks for all the info. I'm tempted to give it another go since I have a WD 320GB and a WD 500GB. May I ask you the folder structure (all songs in root folder/in album folders) and partition File system you used (FAT or FAT32)?
  11. He bought a HDD and is going to try to connect it via USB. I haven't had previous luck with that. So I use G Music or my USB stick.
  12. Jeez that sucks. I don't mean to be rude, but was she looking at all when backing up? If you had a BU camera, you would be seeing a screwy picture angle before the accident AND/OR if she looked back, she'd have see the gate wide open. There's no replacement for visual recognition. Btw, the hatch won't pop or close when in drive , so it must have been opened BEFORE put in drive ) I'm going suggest your wife pay more attention to her surroundings while driving. And if you REALLY believe it's the keyfob's problem, make a cover like I did.
  13. Not a problem, that's part of the design. The engine is cutting fuel and using compression to help you engine brake. It is not using extra fuel as the injector pulses are cut off. You apparent lack of MPG efficiency is due to something else. Has the engine been through the break in period? Are you doing the proper type of driving for the break-in? i.e. not driving a single engine RPM for long periods of time and not hammering it, et cetera?
  14. I'm interested to know. Right now, my solution consists of using Google Music through my phone. It's nice to have access to all of my 7000+ songs without carrying anything extra around.
  15. I haven't had luck with portable HDDs, let me know if you get it working. Best I've had luck with was a 16GB USB 3.0 stick
  16. I showed this link, to a member here, from mechanixtrix for removing the bumper on a Gen1 Edge, which is essentially the same. He used that, and did an awesome write up for the LED bars DRL retrofit. It shows the link in the first part of his thread: DIY
  17. I wonder how large would that rock have to be? would a BB sized pebble be enough to dismiss Ford from liability? I would think the car should be able to handle some amount of hail as well. I'm seeing a huge grey area.
  18. Way to come through as promised! with a GREAT write up at that!! They look very nice! Mind posting a picture of the spread against a wall about 10' or 15' away with your next shots?
  19. They go on eBay periodically. I would suggest keeping an eye out and waiting. Unless your damage is more than cosmetic?
  20. Strange indeed. Seeing as how a piece of spark plug ceramic can shatter it. I always thought resonance was the culprit, but it seems it is due to the hardness of the aluminum oxide. GO figure.
  21. BTW, here's a link to 3M for free samples (8 bucks for a sample is highway robbery): 3M samples
