With any internal system, you might have to clear the hoses with compressed air or by removing them. But since the gaps are so small, things that normally clog a drainage system such as leaves would be kept to a minimum.

I saw a cargo shade that would be awesome if it could be retrofitted into an Edge. My boss just picked up a Lexus CT250h and the cargo shade on that thing is ideal. It's a bar that can be easily popped in and out of these square indentations on both sides of the trunk area. It's spring loaded and installed in literally 3 seconds. I'm going to measure it and see, but I am afraid it would be too narrow. Maybe a Lexus GX has a usable shade.

It's not so much the hitch itself, but what you are pulling. A dog trailer can't weigh all that much in my mind (I could be wrong). With that assumption, I would think you are safe without upgrading your cooling bits. Having said that, it never hurts to have additional cooling capacity (that's why I made sure to have the factory kit even though I don't expect to tow at the limits of Class II) In your case, I don't think it would be necessary to add it . BUT If you have cash to blast, by all means, mod that thing!!

MyFordTouch issues are across the board. As far as the frontal crash rating, all Edge built MAR2011 and after, got a GOOD rating in all categories from IIHS after improvement of the roof strength. Agreed. Additionally, if you are going to take that risk and over work you vehicle, make sure to take extreme care of the fluid levels and condition. I would change my engine oil every 2500 miles under those towing conditions and checking it 10 times as often. Tranny fluid should get swapped to some majorly awesome synthetic (if compatible) like Amsoil. Some water wetter might help your radiator cool down better as well... just don't run that stuff in the winter if you are in a freezing climate. Also, take it easy on the A/C especially if you run across hills.

Try gel nails... my wifes swears by them. Regular polish lasts her 1-2 days before chipping.

Shell seems to put more detergents in their premium fuels.

In So Cal its windows down on the streets and A/C cranked on the freeway. If I'm feeling especially wasteful, I will open the windows and crank the A/C with only floor vents on at the same time. It's almost as nice as using the heater through the floor vents with the windows/roof open in winter.

At 30 MPH it could have been anything. I heard a crazy story on "That's Incredible" in the 80s where a man shot a rifle off shore on his boat and it struck a woman in her car on the freeway. Craziest part was that no glass was broken as the bullet traveled through an open rear triangle window in her coupe at the right exact moment. Luck is a strange beast. Sorry for your misfortune.
