Drove round trip from LA to SF this weekend. Was very pleased with the Edge's performance. The only thing I was irritated by, was the traffic alert function on screen which seems to require a move by the driver to take their eyes off the road to make a selection of Details/Ignore/Avoid. Is there any way to disable this function? I find it highly distracting and rarely accurate... on this trip anyhow.

Has anyone in warmer areas experienced the MFT screen freezing on a hot day? Temps here in L.A. reached 101 today. I met a friend for lunch where my Edge Sport was parked in the sun. When I returned to the car, needless to say, it was pretty hot inside. I drove away and noticed that my phone had not connected yet so I touched the upper left to go to the phone menu, and the screen was frozen. Shortly thereafter, the screen went black except for the colored four corners, clock and temp frozen. The temp and time in the speedo cluster were not frozen and although I was able to use sync commands to work radio, Nav and Phone were disabled. Got home and let the car cool for 30 minutes, started it again, and everything was fine. I did notice that upon start-up, the time was 3 hours ahead of local time. Then, within 10 seconds or so, the time adjusted to local time. It gets pretty hot here in SoCal.. is this something I'm going to experience repeatedly this summer?

Are there any noticeable differences you see in the two versions?

Nope. No banging transmission

Two weeks ago I had no problem setting up a screen shortcut in the Climate quadrant for easy access to my seat warmers. Now, since the weather is getting warmer, I'd like to change the "shortcut" to something else. For the life of me, I can't remember where the shortcut can be programmed. I feel like I've looked everywhere for it. Anyone know offhand?

I went outside specifically to to change the clock. What a pleasant surprise to find out the clock had changed on it's own!

Which cars you compare the Edge with?
LALarry replied to jdf77's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
As a previous owner of a 2007 BMW X5, I can tell you that my '11 Edge Sport is up to par with the likes of my Bimmer. I actually like it more than the Bimmer. -
Sirius quality not woth the money...
LALarry replied to Victor Wolansky's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Meh. That's my take on it. I like the sound quality and the selection. What I don't like is the loss of signal when I'm stuck or traveling slow under an overpass -
Good question. I agree. The blinker volume ia quickly drowned out and I often need to check if it's on or not. It would be great if it were adjustable but I've yet to come across a way to increase the volume

Gee, yeah.. Kinda figured that one out on my own.

Just curious as to where others who have IA keys leave your fob when sending your Edge through the car wash, or when leaving the car with a valet

Ran a test today. Hit recirc while panel ventilation was in manual mode. After 5 minutes, recirc went off. I hit it again and this time it remained on for the duration of my commute (another 15 mins). So, I've now answered my own question.

Just did a fill up on my '11 Edge Sport after a week and a half of 80% highway driving. I must say that I am babying the Edge a bit as I get use to it. I was pleasantly surprised to have gotten a very decent 22/MPG combined! Not bad for a vehicle of this size and weight. I don't feel so bad about trading in my '09 Mini Cooper. Was only getting 3/MPG better on that.

Ford Edge vs Subaru Forester XT
LALarry replied to Munchie's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
"one has the perception of a granola eating vegetarian Obama voter car; and the other is a Ford Edge". Uh oh!! You mean I just bought a Republican's car???? Well, it's back to the dealer I go! Jeeeez I wish I would have known.. That's hysterical. -
It does disengage! Perhaps only in the manual mode when I'm just wanting outside air venting into the cabin.. but yeah.. check it out..

One of the climate features I use frequently is the "Recirc" mode. When driving in traffic and following a smoke belching vehicle, or someone who is smoking and hanging their cigarette out the window, hitting the Recirc immediately shuts out the offensive odors. On the Edge, it appears that the Recirc mode times out after 5 or 10 minutes. In previous vehicles (most recently a Mini Cooper, and a BMW X5, the Recirc mode doesn't disengage unless I told it to. The OM says "Recirculated air may turn off (I love that...MAY turn off) in all airflow modes except MAX AC to reduce fog potential. Huh?

I think I saw on here a few weeks back a photo of someone's MFT screen that had a screen protector on it.. For the purposes of not seeing all of those annoying fingerprint marks, do they really work? Will they diminish the screen resolution? Does anyone use a brand they're happy with, and if so, what brand? I see there are many to chose from and they're available on Amazon.com

On day one within an hour, Sync dropped my iPhone connection. I couldn't get it to re-connect and returned to the dealer where the system did a re-boot on it's own. Then I was able to reconnect. All was fine for a week. Now sync has dropped the connection once again. My iPhone syncs with all other Bluetooth devices and maintains connection without any problem (I'm using a BlueAnt device just fine until I can get in for service). Anyone else experiencing this or know what will fix it? I use this feature more than any other feature of Sync

Ambient Lighting Color Poll
LALarry replied to Edgieguy's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Tuxedo black Sport. Aqua ambient. Period. -
Ok listen, prior to owning my '11 Edge Sport, I owned 2 BMW's. Both BMW's had minor trim issues which were fixed promptly. Then, my '07 X5 spent one month in the shop because the engine light came on and wouldn't go off. They literally tore the engine apart (not once but twice) trying to figure it out. They never did figure it out. After putting everything back together, the light simply went off. I was compensated for the inconvenience (3X/monthly payment) but this only goes to show that even a $60K, precision built auto, can have issues. I love the Edge. I was laid off from my job, and needed to "downsize". The last Ford I owned was a new 1998 Explorer. Ford has come a very long way and I am very impressed with the quality. I was hesitant at first, and don't really miss the X5 much at all.

Don't feel bad.. neither is the iPhone. Just picked up my black Edge Sport on Saturday and found out through this forum that the phone currently isn't supported for text messaging. Bummer, but there are so many other awesome features, I won't miss the texting that much. Now if I could only figure out how to set the "Presets" for radio and Sirus.. Hmmmmmm

With the fluctuation of gas prices recently, I don't doubt that the accuracy is less than satisfactory.
