I remember a few years ago when I heard Sirus for the first time, I was blown away, then I never hear it again, now that I have Siruis on the car, I totally hate is and I think the quality is really bad, sound like a very cheap 56 kb MP3 radio, not worth the money unless you are a fan of some of the shows, but not for listening to music, I can totally hear the compression. and I checked with other people Sirius radios to be sure is not my radio. What happened? Why they went so low on quality??

Consumer Reports Reviews '11 Edge & MKX
Victor Wolansky replied to Hockey87's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I always respected CR, but lately I'm feeling like they are a bit dated, technology seems to be going faster than what they can catch. Said that, the current state of the Sync Touch, it is really in a non recommendable state, still need a lot of work and holes to be patched. I understand the "take your eyes out of the road" because when your commands do not work, you need to look to a screen to know where to press, like if your butt is getting burned by the seat heater, there is no "real" button to turn it off, so you need to look at the screen to turn it off. On my old car, I could do that with my eyes closed. Shouting instructions at the car and being ignored is a bit, but I guess it will only get better. -
Totally agree, very well said.

New Edge Limited AWD - First impressions
Victor Wolansky replied to NigelS's topic in Owner Impressions
That and the HID lamps are the reason because I selected the Limited over the Sport... well, and the cost of insurance, the word "spot" always raise insurance, I pay about $100 less every 6 months for the Edge 2011 than what I pay for my Mazda 3 Sport 2005.... The adaptive is quite impressive, too bad it turn itself off when below about 20mph, it could be the mos amazing tool to fight bad parking lot like jams, you just grab a magazine and let the car advance alone when there is a gap big enough to advance :-) -
Well, this mean that there is hope for me and all the others that have endless problems with the stubborn console on the Edge :-)

I like it very much too, and the Syncissues annoyme a lot, but, is just a computer, and hope Ford fix it or recall it, and we need to be demanding with it, we paid hard earned money for it, even an iPas wold do a better job than that slow Sync module which does not even deserve the label of beta software, it at least a year from be ready IMHO. I hope they don't come with a new and really good solution for the 2012 vehicles and tell us that the 2011 are obsolete, that would be a deal breaker for me. Now, the car as a car seems to be pretty good, although like to drink gas like crazy ....

Then my system is a disaster, can't get it to work without crash or just stop with anything I have, iPod, iPhone, iPad, USB memory... Nothing show artwork, almost every song stop after a few minutes and take too long to go to the next song, if it does not crash, and when I just plug the device it is about 5 minutes that I can't even turn down the heat..... I will get it updated on Thursday, I hope that fix it, because if not is the most expensive piece of trash I ever owned.

In-Dash DVD - Is it possible?
Victor Wolansky replied to codeno1's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
My bad, looking at this video, http://www.ford.com/technology/sync/myfordtouch?id=devices&v=1 I was under the impression it was possible, but is not. What really surprise me of all these series of videos, is that the response of the touchscreen is instantaneous, which we all know it is not, can this fall under the qualification of false advertising? -
In-Dash DVD - Is it possible?

I have never done it myself, but is what I understand by the manual and brochures. Although I found the brochures and manuals to be wrong and misleading before... Like with the 3 D carrousel. -
In-Dash DVD - Is it possible?
Victor Wolansky replied to codeno1's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The CD player is just that, a CD player, but you can play movies out of a USB device, but only when in stop. The headrest DVDs are individual players that are not even connected between them. -
New Edge Sport. mods where to start?
Victor Wolansky replied to Yamifanatic's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Nice! I wonder if they fit the Limited with the 20" wheels -
Wife needed a car... didn't have any.... I needed something bigger since was tired of rubbing my head against the Mazda 3 roof.... (6' 8.5" person) so I got the Edge and gave my wife the Mazda 3, that is still a pretty nice car for her

Question about the back up system
Victor Wolansky replied to knux11's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
it is pretty loud... sure your system is working fine?? -
I also have to say I'm pretty happy with the Sony system, I consider myself an audiophile, and have pretty good systems all over my house, I have to say that the sub does not kick lime my last home sub : VFT-15H which I wish I could have on the car, but weight more than a person.... :happy feet: I tested the system with the CD that comes with my sub, and have a very good kick too, testing in frequency the very low frequencies under 30Hz are not as good as my home system, but they work. One of the tracks of the CD have a pipe organ which plays at 16HZ and I can hear that at home, actually feel it,and not in the car, but that would be probably too much to ask, what is good that the car does not resonate with the low frequencies, they did a very good job avoiding those nasty vibration sounds...

Disappointed with HD radio
Victor Wolansky replied to richy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I just found that the UP and DOWN on the big volume wheel does that... I'll try what you say too. -

I have never seen them working either.... I always have to turn them on manually and seats are really freezing... -
Disappointed with HD radio
Victor Wolansky replied to richy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Ok, but that dies nit let you pick the sub stations HD 2 or HD 3 ..... Or it does? -
most of my use is for going back and fort to the office, which is about 10 miles each way, which is about 30 blocks with stops and lights, and the rest a 45 MPH non stop road, not flat, some ups and downs, and I'm averaging 14 MPG :-(((((((

It was worst than it is today? OMG!!!! I can't believe it... I have an Edge that is a week old, it have Gen2, and it feels like the slowest computer I ever had.... in the price range of this car, it should have a much better CPU and the software still feel like beta software, full of bugs, I can't believe I had to pull the fuse and reset it twice in 1 week....

Disappointed with HD radio
Victor Wolansky replied to richy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
So, how do you tune the HD2 HD3 etc? The manual say you can do it with the Seek button, but the seek button only jump from memory to memory, also say that one can use the command HD # but that doesn't work either... Any clues? Thanks. -
Has anyone being able to tune the extra HD radio channels? Like HD2 HD3 etc?? The manual says that one need to press seek repeatedly to switch to those extra channels in the same station, but even wen they show up, pressing seek only change to the next station, not to the next channel on the same station, only way so far I discovered one can do that is browsing the stations, but is painfully slow. Also is says that one can say "HD 2" and would do it, but the command is not recognized... any clues?? Thanks Victor
