I've had mine a week and it is a great vehicle 2011 LTD AWD.
-
Well we've had it a week now and so far we are fairly impressed. It's the wife's car (I have a 2010 CTS AWD) and she like it a lot. Her previous vehicle was a 2007 Grand Cherokee Overland with the Hemi 5.7. The Edge rides much nicer, much quieter and the seats are very comfortable. Entry into the back seat is much easier and there also seems to be more room. The electronic gadgets are impressive and fairly easy to master. The auto-cruise is a beautiful thing as well as the collision avoidance. Mileage is 17MPG suburban driving where the Jeep would be averaging 12 (if we were lucky). The vehicle seems bigger than the Jeep only because it is a bit wider but Edge is a bit shorter. Brakes are strong and the steering is pretty responsive. Looking forward to a road trip. Overall we give it an A!.

AWD Limited Stock is.... Limited?
blankster replied to cal3thousand's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Order a AWD now and you may have to wait for a 2012. I posted an entry per a Ford notice I found on a fleet leasing site. My 2011 AWD is pretty quite and decent on fuel. -

Not sure where you live but cold weather will make them rattle more until things warm up

Where you have the small mirror I have a LED light that illuminates when something is in my blind side. Look at my pictures and compare it to your mirror especially where the mirror attaches to the door by the side window. the molding is now a gradual flair out and not a sharp bump (air deflector)

The TSB is for a certain range of production where others have experienced a problem for the last 2 or 3 production years. The mirror redesign addresses that issue.

Friends and Family, Rebates, Incentives - USED Edge?
blankster replied to GlimmerGirl99's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I just bought a 2011 Edge LTD with friends and family (X-Plan). I believe it is for new deliveries. -
I have no mirror insert just the electronic LED light that lights if a vehicle is next to me.

Its probably the high-pressure fuel pump - No big issue. When you open the door the car probably charges the fuel rails for quick starting. Also if you have the HID lamps they also emit a high-pitched noise,

I read some articles on this a couple of days ago. US only Ford MY2011 Taurus, Edge, Flex, Escape, Explorer with AWD/4x4 orders balanced out date of 3/09/11. Demand for these vehicles and body styles have exceeded supply. Ford is making every effort to build orders received on and prior to 3/09/11 and will continue to accept will-try orders placed on 3/10 or after. Customers with orders placed that receive the balance out message will be advised. Ford anticipates these options will be available for the start up of MY12.

See my other topic for Ford's solution.

No integrated blingers just more streamlined. Look for a limited in your area with a vin number greater than A96000 or B00000 or a build date greater than maybe 2/2/11 or 2/12 that should be around the switch over. Go check it out. Mine has BLS detection and it works well.

I just picked up my 2011 Ford Edge LTD AWD and the sideview mirrors are completely changed. Thet are smaller more aerodynamic and less square/angular. I believe I read somewhere Job #2 on the 2011 Edge began with production starting 2/2/11 which means fixes/updates are applied. I suspect the wind noise issue was determined to be associated to the previous design mirror and this new one addressed that issue. I will post pictures when I have some time.

TRACKING FOR VIN - 2FMDK4KC5BBB01218
blankster replied to alias1's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Your Vin is about 1500 units after mine and I'm picking mine up today. You should be in the next week or 2. -
Bordeaux red/stone 302A with 20" wheels & trailer towing. Purchased it via Xplan which worked out great. Ordered 01/17/2011. Previous vehicle was a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Looking forward to a more comfortable quieter ride and better gas mileage. Very stress-free transaction. Last Ford product I owned was 1996 and that was not a good experience. As for now I figured since I owned the stock I might as well try the product.

I have the same one on order AWD Limited with trailer towing 20" wheels Bordeaux red and stone interior. Ordered mid-January due in the next week or two. Color looks great!

OK Indian contractors here on H1B visas.

Coding was probably done in India where we at my company are beginning to learn goss incompetence is rampant. But in the eyes of American business - They are cheaper than American Workers so they must be better.

Open the door and while standing on the inside portion of the door, with your right hand follow the split between outer and inner portion from the top door seal forward down towards the side mirror. Where the outer and inner portion come together to form a channel, insert something to block that "channel" between the 2 seals like a small piece of backer rod. I'm not sure if this is the cure but the previous generation Ford Taurus and mercury Sables had a similar issue. Basically air was getting in between the 2 seals from inside the engive compartment and front fender area and running up the door seal (within the channel) to the top and exiting out the back by the "B" pillar (the one between the front and back seat). Later on the upper door seals for that vehicle were revised to add a "block" between the outer and inner seals where they converge (by the "A" pillar). Also you will notice some foam type seals inside the front fender (open you door and look inside the fender by the door hinges) that are intended to keep out moving air that enters from the front of the vehicle. Also open the hood and look to see if there are additional insulators around the area where the hinge for the hood enters the fender/firewall. There are usually insulators (at least on the vehicles I currently have) around that area to block moving air from entering the cavity between the front door and the front fender. I looked at a parts manual and it shows an insulator running from the top to the bottom inside the front fender. Sometimes these bend at the top allowing air to enter the door cavity. Again I don't have my Edge yet (being built the week of 2/28) but I was looking and one at the dealer with this issue in mind. The one I saw on the floor had several areas of foam blocking the openings in the fender.

I will change mine (being built the week of 2/28) at the recommended interval. I will use synthetic.

I just looked for info on the X-plan. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll get in touch with investor relations tomorrow. Do dealers have to take the deal?

After 3 Jeep Grand Cherokees, My wife thinks the 2011 is too large and too fuel hungry. So it looks like we are going to replace our 2007 Grand Cherokee Overland (which she drives) with a 2011 Ford Edge LTD in Bordeaux red with the stone interior. Color combo seems to be hard to find so we ordered one. Options are the 302A package which has the adaptive cruise and the collision avoidance HIDs etc. We also ordered the 20" wheels. I figure since I bought Ford stock a couple of years ago, I might as well buy a Ford vehicle. This will be the first Ford product since a 1996 Sable which was a disaster.
