Rear view camera guidelines are missing
AmyLovesHerEdge replied to ciggy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Hi, I see this discussion is dated but... I just had my camera replaced at the dealer. Oct. 30, 2018. Camera works but have lost the backup guidelines. Does anyone know if the new camera/MFT no longer has the backup line feature or is there a fix? I checked the settings and the toggle for the guidelines is set to on. Wondering if there is another setting that I'm missing maybe? I have not rebooted the entire MFT system yet. Not sure if that would make a difference. Thanks for your time, Amy -
Exact same problem here. Been going on for 8 months. Only happens when pulling out from a dead stop and you have to tramp on it - say to pull into traffic. If you "feather" the gas pedal IE: start slowly it will shift through the gears ok. It does not accidently shift into manual as mentioned previously here. If you really need to accelerate say onto an expressway from a dead stop... it sticks and stays in first gear. Nice running down an expressway with a semi behind you in first gear @ 8000 rpm. Trying to shift into manual and shift that way doesn't work nor shifting into neutral and back into D neither. The only way to fix it is to pull onto the shoulder of the road put it in Park and SHUT OFF the car. This must reset something. Even stopping and shifting into Park and pulling back out won't fix it. On mine you have to shut off the car and restart. Then make sure to lightly feather the pedal until you get past 1st gear. Then everything is ok. THIS IS DEADLY SERIOUS FOR SAFETY. My best friend is a cameraman at a local TV station. He couldn't believe it when I showed him what happens. I can make it do this anytime I want. A reporter called me. They have a weekly automobile segment during the news. They are interested in doing a segment. Dealer can't give an answer. They say "it's normal for the car to hesitate a little when you tramp on the pedal from a dead stop". Geesh. Amy

October 2013: 2011 Ford Edge AWD Limited. Manufactured Nov. 2010. 20,000 miles. Found a puddle in my garage. Dealer replaced the seals for the Power Transfer Unit. They said I was lucky I found the leak and reported it, because the PTU only holds a small amount of fluid and without fluid the PTU doesn't last very long. I asked. They said there is no dip stick to check fluid level for the PTU. Amy

Sorry - I meant it was manufactured Oct-Nov 2010 not 11.

I checked the enable/disable settings on the screen. It should be showing the warning lines. I rebooted MFTouch also. The Dealer repair report said they rebooted the camera module. This actually fixed it. But it only lasted about three times before it quit working and never to be seen again. Yes, it's an early 2011 model. I think it was manufactured Oct-Nov 2011. My concern is the transmission now. It has begun to shift really rough in the low gears. Guess I'll start another Topic here to see if anybody is having this problem. Amy

Shift to Park Warning when it's in Park
AmyLovesHerEdge replied to AmyLovesHerEdge's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
Hi, WWWPerfA_ZN0W. Dealer updated Sync first before working on the car. Supposed to have the latest version. Yes, it's an early model. Manufactured late Oct. - early Nov. 2010. It's classified as a 2011 model. Thanks Tanya. I'm going back in. The Dealer repair shop showed me the Ford service bulletin. It said simply to adjust the linkage. I'm printing this forum topic out to show them. My biggest concern is now is the transmission. It is shifting rough in the low gears. It sometimes bangs like you were popping a clutch in the old days. Definitely didn't act this way the first 20,000 miles and can't be good for the car. Amy -
Dealer fixed the warning markers. If I understood them right, they said they had to reboot the camera module. They also updated MSFT to the latest update while they replaced the Power Transfer Unit for leaking gear fluid in between fixing the gear shift so the Park light comes on. Ha. Warning Markers lasted exactly 3 shifts into reverse. Now they do not come on again. I checked the enable/disable setting. At least the camera works, but those warning markers are handy in tight spots. The Shifter not going into Park lasted a little longer - 5 days. They fixed the linkage. SSM44164 But it is not working again either. Sigh. Car has barely 20,000 miles. I have only averaged between 5 & 7k miles a year. It hasn't been used hard. Now the transmission is acting funny going from 1st into 2nd. It bangs sometimes when it shifts. Man how I loved this when it was new. Amy

Shift to Park Warning when it's in Park
AmyLovesHerEdge replied to AmyLovesHerEdge's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
Dealer finally said Ford now has a service fix. SSM44164. They adjusted the gear shift linkage. This actually lasted 5 days, but now it is doing it again. At least now I figured out how to play with the switch on the gear shift to get it into Park. I have to take it back in again anyway. They were supposed to have fixed the backup warning lines on the rear camera. They did but it only lasted one day. At least so far, the Power Transfer Unit is no longer leaking tranny fluid in my garage since they replaced it. The car only has 20,000 miles. I'm thinking about dumping it. The transmission is starting to shift real rough from 1st into 2nd. Too bad. I loved the car when I first got it. Amy -
Shift to Park Warning when it's in Park
AmyLovesHerEdge replied to AmyLovesHerEdge's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
I wrote the original post for this forum about 10 months ago. Still have the problem. Dealer says they can't duplicate the problem. I figured out what's going on when this happens: When this happens: If you shift the shifter in Park. Notice that the red "P" park indicator on the center speedometer is not lit. Leave the shifter in Park, but if you squeeze the chrome switch on the shifter a couple of times the Park light will come on and the warning lights shutdown and the seat returns. I think it's just in the gear shift switch. (the one you squeeze on the shifter to shift gears) Sometimes you have to squeeze it 2 or 3 times before it works, but it fixes it every time for me. I'm taking the car back in to the dealer in July to show them this. I'll let you know what they find. Amy -
June 26, 2013 My Edge is doing the same thing. No marker lines when backing up. Wonder if one of the sensors back there is out? Camera works fine. I rebooted Sync & checked the settings. Markers are set to display but not working. Backup warning beeper still sounds. Amy.

Hi, 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD. This just started to happen this past weekend. I park the car and put it into Park. When I shut the car off.... a warning sign comes on and says "Shift to Park". This appears on the left of the speedometer screen. The MFT screens won't turn off and the seat will not return to the start position like it normally does. If I hit the gear shift with the heel of my hand, sometimes this will fix it and everything shuts off. I tried doing a hard reboot of the MyFordTouch computer by pulling the fuse, but it is still doing it. Not sure why it is doing this. It has to know it is in Park, because I don't think you can shut the car off unless it's in Park. I tried doing a search here to see if anybody ever heard of this. Couldn't find anything. Thanks, Amy

Hi, I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited. The normal way to rotate tires is to "X" the back to the front. But I read if the tires are directional, you should only rotate the tires front to back on the same side. I'm told if the tires are directional, usually the tires say "Directional" with an arrow for the direction of rotation. I'm not seeing this on the side wall. Does anyone know if Ford uses directional? The tires are the original factory stock 18" Michelins that came with the car. Thanks, Amy

Two things that would be nice some day for the Ford Nav designers.... A lady at my work can create a custom route on Google Maps in her office and send the entire route for download to her onboard car navigation. Not just a destination. She has a Mercedes. That would be real handy on long trips when you do not like the suggested routes the Ford GPS gives you. The second thing is the breadcrumbs option. It would be nice to run the breadcrumbs on a trip, and save to favorites. Then reverse it, and use it for the trip back with turn by turn directions. This can be done on some handheld GPS models. The Edge is the first car I've owned with in-car navigation. Overall it has been handy for simple destinations, and connected with the Ford Sync Trips/Traffic, it has gotten me out of two traffic jams and suggested detours before I got stuck. The one was a bad accident and people were stopped on the interstate for hours. The Sync Traffic feature warned me and got me off on an exit ramp before the traffic jam. Without it, I would not have known and would have got caught like everybody else. It then detoured me through a part of the city I was not familiar with, and got me back on the interstate past the traffic jam. Way Cool! Amy 2011 Edge Limited AWD.

Hi, Have MyFordTouch w/ Navigation. When in Nav mode, the lady's voice giving turn directions is very low. The regular voice for the other commands such as changing radio channels or taking a phone call are normal. Just the nav. turn by turn voice. If I simply turn the volume knob up, my music and the regular voice commands are too loud then. I have always had my Speed Compensation Volume Set at 4. This just started happening today. Thanx in advance for your time, Amy 2011 Edge Limited AWD
