Thanks, boomsling Jillo79: Could you possibly provide some dimensions on the "weird trapezoid"? Even close approximations would help. Thanks.

Has anyone installed these speakers?
scoopo replied to scoopo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
So the Infinity Kapas fit in the rear doors? Were there any issues with the fit? If so, what was necessary to mount them properly? I'd love to have 4 of those puppies! I'd go ahead and get 2 sets of those right now if I knew they'd fit without my having to bust out my mad mangling skills on my new car. That sub setup you've got would work for me. There's a custom box behind the panel? Was it trial and error or do you have dimensions? Your setup is almost exactly what I'm wanting to do! I looked at those DVD Navigation head units with hard drives Abrannan19 posted about. I expected them to cost but I got a touch of sticker shock anyway. I believe I'm gonna have to wait on one of those and stick with the factory head unit as originally planned... for the time being at least. jeffreybehr: That Infinity BassLink II looks very nice. I will do some reading on that. Presumably if I purchased a powered sub I could tone back my amp shopping to a 4-channel model rather than the 5- and 6-channel models I'm looking at currently. Thanks Jillo! That's right! If I recall hers didn't have the extra plate/panel/wood/whatever I see on alwaysbikn's. Sooo many options! I wish I was better informed/educated on car stereo equipment. Thanks for all the input, everyone! Great stuff! -

Abrannan19: That DVD head unit is nice. I really like the CD ripping feature. I had figured on installing an after market head unit after I got the speakers, amp, and sub all sorted out and installed. (then recovered financially again) I'll definitely be looking closer at one of those now though. Maybe go ahead and get it all done at once after all. Thanks jeffreybehr: Dude! That's one helluva system you have in your home. Nice! Are the tweeters in your Edge the little thing on the dash up near the windshield? That's interesting. Was it a pain to run the wires? I don't think I'm all that interested in busting out the hacksaw and duct tape so I believe I'll have to pass on the great deal you're offering for the B/MR drivers. I got in a short chat session with a Crutchfield Product Advisor briefly yesterday. He said the Infinity Kappa 682.7cf speakers will fit in the front door but not in the back. He then said the Infinity Reference 6822cf reference speakers would fit. I guess I need clarification on that (didn't have a lot of time when we were chatting) because I'm seeing the first set specs showing 2 1/4" Top Mount Depth and 2 3/4" Bottom Mount Depth while the reference set shows 2 7/16" Top Mount Depth and N/A Bottom Mount Depth. That's 1/16" more on the reference set than on the first set for Top Mount Depth. Now I will freely admit I am no expert on this stuff but that doesn't appear to calculate. Another speaker question while I'm at it. What would you all recommend for a sub-woofer enclosure? I'd like to install the sub in the side where the factory audiophile sub goes. Someone (can't remember who offhand) installed an after market sub there and it looked really good. As I don't have the factory sub is this even an option? If so, anyone have some dimensions for a custom box that would fit? All the boxes I've found so far are stand-alone enclosures and most have black "carpet" on them. I don't think that would look very good with my camel interior. Thanks for all the input and assistance -
I'd like a copy of the PDF too please. I don't need it right this second but can see where having that on hand could come in handy in the near future. Thanks

Original style 18" Chrome clad wheels with tires & intact TPMS
scoopo replied to scoopo's topic in Classifieds
Holy crap! These shipping companies apparently want to pay a Mercedes payment off shipping a set of wheels. I haven't heard back from Penna Edge since offering to tweak the deal due to the shipping.... so, unless he's out of town and/or uninterested then the wheels are still for sale. To any interested party within a few hour's drive of Chattanooga, TN (GA/TN state line, I-75, north of Atlanta)... Shipping is crazy but I'll toss em in my dad's pickup and meet ya halfway ... or you could come pick them up, or whatever. Again, $500, reasonable offers considered. Willing to tweak the price for shipping. Wheels, tires, TPMS, all intact, marked for which corner they came off, and ready to simply bolt on. Sorry, the tires are no good to me without the wheels and no other car in my family or belonging to any friends have 18" wheels. You could buy the set and swap the tires and keep the factory tires for future use if you'd like. As I said above though the shipping ain't cheap as they come in at nearly 65 lbs each. If I can't find a buyer relatively close or who is willing to pay for shipping then it looks like I'll just put them in storage. -
Has anyone installed these speakers?
scoopo replied to scoopo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Crutchfield says all 4 door speakers are 6x8 For a couple reason, including keeping the factory look. Not having to do an adapter leaving another opening/cubby below the stereo, the fact that I can install a new head unit later, $, etc. The factory stereo doesn't look all that bad and the Sirius and in-dash 6-disk CD changer wouldn't have to be tampered with. I don't want or need a DVD player in the dash. I'll never use it. I figure get the sound up to par while keeping the stock look... for now. -
Post the picture you sent, please. I'd like to see what exactly you're talking about. There are very few after market accessories and parts available... still. I'm always looking.

It says they fit when I'm looking at the list but says not when looking at the particular speaker page. I looked at these a couple weeks ago and swear they said they fit on all pages then. Weird. ClubwagonXLT: The factory ones are ok but they're far from excellent. I want to install better speakers, an amplifier, and a sub-woofer while keeping the factory head unit. (I have the 4 speaker, no-sub stereo) I spend the majority of my driving time on the Interstate and when the weather is nice and the BAMR is open the stereo is just underpowered. I don't want to blow away my neighbors but I want better sound. -
I installed 20 inch wheels on my Edge. I also had the H&R Sport springs installed. Because two of my wheels arrived bent I was able to drive around for about a week and a half on stock 18" wheels and tires after the springs were installed. The springs made a big difference both in ride and handling. The wheels and tires... not so much change in the ride, relatively. Between my adjusting to the difference and the springs (I swear) breaking in I just couldn't be happier with the difference in my Edge. The look is sooo much better and the handling difference is simply HUGE. I agree that the 20" may be the sweet spot but the right 22s look great too. I can see, even with the Edge almost 2" lower, where 22s would fit fine. Personally I didn't want to give up that much sidewall while trying to keep the overall diameter as close as possible to factory (speedometer, odometer, etc) akirby: Not all after market wheels are put on a car for status. I did mine for the look and for myself. To make the Edge my own instead of cookie-cutter off the showroom floor. I think my Edge looks great and have seen a bunch that also look really nice with different wheels. I'm not going shopping for some crazy 40" jobs but with Ford offering 20s in '08 it's clearly not so far out there to install a bigger diameter wheel. npggirl: Go for it girl! Be sure to post up some pictures for us afterward

I'm wondering if anyone had replaced their factory speakers with THESE. When I enter my vehicle information at Crutchfield it brings up items that will fit. I filtered for 6"x8", then sorted by user reviews. These Infinity Kappa 682.7cf top the short list. They show the little green check mark and say Fits until I click to bring up the page of these speakers alone. It then says "This item does not fit". So I wonder, do they fit or do they don't? Anyone? Thanks

I was reading and at first was like... "ehhh, I dunno..." Then when you said you're gonna have the rear skirt/valence/whatever customized for the exhaust... well, I too am feeling it. If done well it should be something. I don't know what all will be involved in this but it has a pile of potential! I'm looking forward to seeing the end result :shades: Here's a pic similar to what SALEENS7 was having trouble posting: (the diffuser isn't part of the exhaust, fyi) EDIT: Good Hands beat me to it. And without a diffuser too. I stand humbled

New Bling/Sanchezing/you may fill in the blank
scoopo replied to Good_Hands's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
That's hilarious! Sanchez! LOL Not all that PC, but funny. The cat stuff is cute. I could see it on a hardcore cat lover's ride. The 40" wheels are just insane. I'd be checkin em out at a show but wouldn't be caught dead owning a ride like that. At least you wouldn't have to jack it up to change your oil. Good stuff fellas -
WOW!! That is crazy! For an Edge?! Definitely Urban Assault mode there. hehe. I like it. It's a bit much for my Edge as I'm going more toward Urban Street Truck than Assault Vehicle but it's friggin cool nonetheless :shades: Now the pop-up mini-gun is something I may have to look in to :D That could come in handy and I could hide it in my low-mobile. lol Thanks Sr.

I don't like the billet either. At least not with it in all three sections. It seems too busy and doesn't seem to tie in with anything around it or with the Edge. I'm not saying it looks bad really... just that I personally don't care for it. I like the 3 bars pretty well. There's a picture in the Custom Edges thread I started of a green Edge at the SEMA show. It has the factory grill but it appears powder-coated or something. Very sharp, imho.

Is it like the ones in THIS thread? I really like this thing and will be getting one soon. I just want it installed in a professional manner as I would probably screw it up if I tried it myself

Got my H&R Sport springs installed
scoopo replied to scoopo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Thanks At hrsprings.com you'll need to enter in the make, model, etc to search. They are part number 51605 Suggested retail price of $369 I got mine at tirerack.com you need to enter in vehicle specific info as well. 07 Edge SEL FWD direct link HERE Currently $234 Requires a 4-wheel alignment after installation. -
Wow! Great pics. Beautiful!
-
That looks great! That is almost exactly what I've been thinking about. I was concerned because I would like to keep the factory head unit and didn't know if I could add an amp and sub without replacing it. I've read a little at the Crutchfield site but have little to no experience with car stereo installation. Could you post links or some info on how the amp is wired in with the stock head unit? I don't have a factory sub. Thanks

My mistake, and my apologies to 007. Previous post edited accordingly. I must have the two confused on the topic of the H&R springs as well because the pictures at the beginning of this thread are not of a lowered Edge/MKX... ... checking ... ... yep, that is MKX2007 with the springs. Thanks CobraJet428 and Good_Hands for helping me sort that out. Also, I thought last night late that I probably should consider there are people with sub-par PCs and/or Internet connections, as with any forum membership. I will endeavor to include a 56k warning in any topic I start with full size images (reduced, of course, automatically by the forum software - which is yet another cool feature of this forum) and to exclusively use thumbnails in topics started by others. Sometimes I forget that some people are less computer literate and may have less than "god-box" PCs (as my online and computer buddies like to call mine) than IT professionals and hardcore PC enthusiasts like me and many others. I sincerely apologize to anyone else who has had issues with non-thumbnailed images. :backtotopic: Sanchez? LOL That statement alone makes me lean toward black for my calipers... although red would look sweet peeking out from under all that black I'm going with. Still considering...
-
~Quote from 07MKX removed from this post by Scoopo after original post removed by staff~ ON TOPIC: The red looks AWESOME! ... but with MY car being very black would a killer caliper job like 07MKX's look good? Or, I ask again, how about gloss black?
-
Whatcha think about red calipers on this one? How about gloss black? (I know... the front windows don't look tinted in these pics from this afternoon. They're actually tinted 35% .... really considering going to 20% to match... hmmmmm)

Got my H&R Sport springs installed
scoopo replied to scoopo's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Some of these pictures are weird like that. It was pretty much straight up noon, bright sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, and depending on the picture I had my BAMR all the way open or closed but the shade open. The front windows are actually 35% tint. I'd love to go to 20% to match the rear but it's sick bird (ill eagle... hehe) There are tons of cars in this area with illegal tint but I just dunno if I wanna deal with a pissed off cop... again... after all these years Thanks for the "Looks Great!" though I'm tickled to death with it. Whatcha think of red brake calibers? Maybe gloss black? I have once again acquired a money pit -
You got it! Sweet! :D Can't wait to hear all about it and your experience at Ford. Did you "dress to kill" as you said you probably would? There's some discussion here somewhere about the vent thing. I'm not sure what the deal is but I believe it's that way on all of them. Also, there are vents for the rear passengers in the back of the center console. If you close them you'll redirect a lot of A/C to the front vents.
