  1. Alright, in addition to a high-mount/third bulb seen here: ... I went ahead and ordered a pair of the red SMT Tower LED bulbs. They have 25 high powered side facing LEDs and 5 high powered forward facing LEDs. So, I will be able to test out not only the stock filament bulbs and the 20/1 high powered LEDs in the red inner diffuser but also these red 25/5 LEDS without the diffuser. I'll be talking to Chad tomorrow to finalize the details for the first set of tinted tails, then will be taking delivery soon thereafter. I will take pictures with the different setups with as close to the same environmental lighting as possible, and will see what I can do to find a nice dark parking lot or some such with a viewable distance of 300-500 feet for more of the same. I have just such a place in mind but am not sure if they turn off the lights at night. I will find something dark somewhere nearby without a doubt.
  2. Cool! I'm looking forward to some pics of the tails in their tinted state soon I was looking at the red diffuser the other night. Since it is removable some red LEDs would probably look super sweet. But... I didn't even think of that and wouldn't have known a few days ago that it was removable so I bought a set of these: ... with the plan of installing them as one would a factory replacement filament bulb within the red diffuser section. They just arrived today. At $25 each I think I will wait and see just how brightly they shine through before dropping the fund on a set of red ones. (They are available in red as well as amber) Also, looking on THIS page there are others I had considered but rejected because I thought they could be too tall. If I, or any one or more of us, were to choose to remove the diffuser (remember the bulbs wont be nearly as obvious under the tinting, as far as visual aesthetics with the lights off go) the taller Tower models with more LEDs would definitely fit. I'll let you all know and will post pictures asap. Then the rest of you will have a better idea of how the tinted tail look with first factory bulbs and then with the Super White models I bought. If I then score some red LEDs and remove the diffuser I will of course post pictures of that as well. I also bought a pair of these for the reverse lights: And one of these for the license plate (I have a tinted plate cover with black frame and black mounting-screw caps): I did not buy a bulb for the third/high-mount light though because it said they were a little larger than stock and may not fit. I see tonight that I was looking at the second ones. The top ones says no such thing. Guess I'll be sending off for one more bulb. I think I'll wait in case I do order the red LEDs...
  3. Kinda sux that the material Ford uses for the third light is different than the others but if you can make it look just as good and have a nice long warranty then I'm ok with it. Please supply any specific/special care instructions for it. I know the tails will be washable and waxable just like the paint. Thanks for the updates, and for your efforts
  4. Great! We're all paid up now. Probably Chad is awaiting on one money order to come in the mail, so I expect he'll be ordering the initial set of tails beginning of this next week if he hasn't already. Also he messaged me late last night and said he just got back from working on the color for us and it looks like he's got the blend correct. Can't wait! :D 1. PAID - Scoopo 2. PAID - Jillo79 3. PAID - gfhii 4. PAID - lee6379 5. PAID - NYEdge 6. PAID - Abrannan19
  5. Tirerack shows 22" Shelby Torq-Thrust M wheels for the Edge pattern at $302 each. They're pretty nice wheels too, kinda retro but nice. Same wheels I saw on a Shelby Mustang at the dealership. There's a couple others at $369 each. Also, a 275 will definitely fit a 20x8.5 wheel. Besides at least a couple others on the forum I have exactly that on my Edge right now. No problems whatsoever. EDIT: Added a pic. If you zoom in you can see the tire size. 275/45R20 That's a 20x8.5" wheel.
  6. Hell yeah! I'd love to have this done! I wonder, do you recover the visor? If not are you able/willing to remove the hideous safety sticker in the process?
  7. Page two isn't showing me anything. Pages 1 and 3 are fine. I'd like to see this black dash.
  8. There's another one of those hot painetd/powder-coated grills! I want that!!
  9. Right on! I'm not worried one bit, tbh. I think I'll pass though on staying in a hotel for 3 days. LOL. - unless you're paying... hehe I think what I'll do with the bulbs I ordered is to install them on one side and check the difference. They are likely to arrive before the tails, although it may be a week or two. I definitely don't want them if they're dimmer than the stock bulbs. I believe however that they will be much brighter. We'll see.
  10. I bought backup and running/brake LEDs and a license plate LED from autolumination.com I'm getting my tail light assemblies tinted per the Unique Coatings thread and will not be installing the LEDs till I receive all my stuff, but expect some pretty sweet effects at that time. I will post again no later than then. These look like some pretty cool lights. I'm sure I'll be looking into some more bulbs... for the headlights, fogs, etc too. Thanks for turning me on to these. I used to be a car guy, then got all into computers and was happy with my "urban-stealth" white Taurus for a decade. hehe. I'm back in the mod/customization thing now!
  11. Yes... yes he does... LOL, just kidding! Thanks dude! I'm not sure for what though... BTW, I posted up some more pics in my gallery. They just wouldn't upload before. Apparently because I was trying to send too many at one time. These are a few with the black wheels and the lowering springs. I'm about to buy some of the aforementioned LED lights too. Can't friggin wait to get these tinted tails! Sooo lookin forward to them! :shades: Will will be r teh uber !!!1!!11!eleven!!!1! (yeah, I'm a geek. A nearly 40 year old geek. - Life is short, let's be happy and have fun!)

  19. I'm a Guinea pig yet again! LOL That's cool. I trust you to make the lenses look amazing! I don't spend much time in reverse anyway EDIT: After thinking about this I went out this evening and looked really closely (apparently for the first time) at my Edge tails. I've been looking at the LED bulbs available and plan now on getting some of them to alleviate the negligible worry I still have in the back of my mind concerning illumination levels and legality. I see what you're saying, Chad, about the color "blend" and how it may affect the reverse lights since you can't leave them clear due to the construction of the assemblies on an Edge. I wasn't sure exactly how the red was made red. ie by a red bulb or, as it turns out, an inner red housing around the bulb. The reverse section though is just a bulb. Considering how they're made I can see how the brake portion of the tail light assembly could be the same solution (as far as how it looks with the light shining through) as all your others while the reverse section should not have any sort of red or other color characteristic. Am I pretty close to the mark in assuming you will be looking to create a blend which will in fact allow the red to shine through for braking and running lights while at the same time not making the reverse (white) lights some sort of pinkish or purlple-ish hue? Would the addition of super-white LED bulbs for the reverse lights make a difference? To the better or worse? How about LEDs within the red inner housing for the running/brake lights? I would assume these brighter bulbs would aid in projecting more actual light through the tint. As the Guinea pig I want to help make your first set of tails look as good as possible. ... and yes, of course, I'd like the first set (mine) to be as sweet as the rest Lemme know if there's anything I can do to help with the first set. Hell, I could even drive my Edge to you in under 6 hours... if it would help to have an actual Edge "in person".
  20. Really. Huh? If it looks good I wouldn't mind going about locating a black dash for my '07 There is that glare thing of course, so it would seem the black would alleviate that quite a bit. I have a camel interior but my exterior is Black. Interesting.
  21. I followed a link yesterday from the LED thread HERE. http://autolumination.com It would seem that super-bright LEDs would be a cool thing and produce plenty of light. I have no personal experience though. Seems like there's some good info in that thread Oh, while I'm posting, an updated list for the Unique Coatings tails: 1. PAID - Scoopo 2. PAID - Jillo79 3. gfhii 4. PAID - lee6379 5. PAID - NYEdge 6. PAID - Abrannan19 Thanks!
  22. No, I haven't. There's info on line on how to mod one yourself but I don't know if it applies to the large one on the front of the Edge. I don't know what's different about that one. It doesn't look different to me, just larger. There's a site, www.webxtremes.com, which deals in decals. They have some cool stuff but they are decal overlays and not actual custom badges/emblems. The site says they'll even do a custom design but you'd have to pay for their time quoted at $65 per hour billed in 15 minute increments. I'll keep looking
  23. Alright! PMs sent to everyone on the list with the necessary information to get the initial money to Chad and get this going. Please let me know via PM, since it's apparently working now, when your funds have been sent. No need that I can see to communicate this info in the thread. I want to thank you all for helping out with this core thing! After we've gotten ours all done Chad will have a core set for the Edge. Anyone after us who wants to get theirs tinted will have less work to do by far than I did. We should be having some pics of the tails and soon thereafter pics of them installed. Soooooon! :shades: We're gonna have us some sweet(er) Edges shortly! :D
  24. Chad replied that the fastest way would be PayPal but that with the transaction fee we'd need to pick up the additional 3.5% So it would seem check or money order via snail mail would be the way to go for some/most of us. I hollered back at him to supply a mailing address asap so we can get checks etc in the mail. Hopefully he'll PM (is the PM system back up here?) you, Abrannan19, with his address or email so we can communicate addresses etc privately. Personally, I'm ok with the fee. It's just $1.75 for $50 if it's 3.5% Whatever, I'm just tickled to finally get the ball rolling
