  1. Don't be surprised when other folks come zipping up near you and then suddenly slow down because it triggers their detector. I had an alarm installed on a truck years ago that had a perimeter sensor (using radar). Even though the alarm was disarmed while driving the radar sensor remained on, therefore anyone that passed me (or most likely that I passed) with a radar detector began slowing down and frantically looking for a cop (lol). And I must say, when I read the title of this thread, I thought for sure it was going to be another complaint...
  2. or the Murano; or maybe he should have just kept the Explorer...
  3. I have over 70k miles and still on the original pads and rotors. I'm not easy on the brakes either and the majority of my driving is around town, so a lot of stop and go. I'm am thinking its about time to replace the pads as I am feeling a little bit fade in the braking performance.
  4. Anybody ever try polarized sunglasses? I started wearing a pair recently. The glare is not as pronounced as the pictures above but there is a noticeable reflection. After putting on the polarized sunglasses, 95% of the glare disappears.
  5. My '07 works fine. I agree it doesn't seem to have the same 'blow your hair back' air flow, but I just crack all 4 windows for a couple minutes and within 5 minutes or so @ 60*, it's not cold, but it's comfortable and still cooling. after about 15 minutes on low I'm bumping the temp up eventually to 70 and it maintains a cool environment. It's been in the mid-90s here by the time I leave from work; no issues as far as I'm concerned (oh, plus I have the black leather...makes for a hot seat for sure). Somewhere on this forum someone suggested opening your glovebox...worth a shot I guess...
  6. I'm always watching for them...they stopped my wife several years ago; that was her first ticket ever... I have to go through there everyday now as part of my commute to Duluth. One morning, I turned off Haynes Bridge onto Old Milton toward 400 behind a dark blue Malibu, dark tinted windows, regular plate; I passed him in the center lane after he moved into the far right lane and still accelerating but probably never reached 55 as we had to stop at the next light; we're side by side; light turns green, I go, not full throttle but aggressive and the blue car is staying with me (I never looked over at it at any point), I didn't think much of it at first due to the normal plates; we probably hit about 55+ or so (in a 45) and then he drops back and I see a quick flash of blue lights from his dash; I let off the gas and then he pulls into the public safety office right there off Old Milton. He got my attention and glad he wasn't a traffic cop...but I'm sure he put the word out to his 'good buddies' to keep an eye out for that dark gray Edge (not too many of those driving around...)
  7. That's just how I roll... :peelout: To me it just adds to the fun factor and I like the feeling of the throttle response better; plus I think that MB E55 owner was impressed he didn't blow me away as much as he probably thought he would on Westside Pkwy between Windward and Webb Bridge (when we got to the next red light he gave me a thumbs up); (you may be familiar with that area). I hit 90 so I'm sure he was 100+
  8. The first thing I have found myself doing after starting the Edge is turning the OD off. I don't turn it back on unless I'm going over 60 for a good stretch. mrdave, you my friend have a great step above what the lowly 2007-2010 owners have in the form of the 'manual' selector. We can only select D or L and turning OD off helps a little but it's just not the same...
  9. Is it FWD or AWD? If it's AWD, your biggest concern will be the PTU; if it's FWD, there is no PTU. If it is AWD, search this forum for "PTU leak" and you'll have plenty of reading material for a while. Mine FWD, no major issues and not many minor issues for that matter. I'm approaching 80k miles so what your looking at is comparably low miles. You may even have a bit of the factory warranty left; might check with a local dealer on that. There is a way to look up the VIN too and you can see the original window sticker and know what all it came with. I pulled mine a while back, I just don't remember how...you can search this forum for that too. Good luck!
  10. Turn OD off before you start accelerating; if you turn it off afterwards, it doesn't make much difference as turning it off doesn't make it downshift until you tap the brake or put your foot to the floor; if you turn it off before, it will hold 3rd and 4th gear as you accelerate improving the responsiveness and utilizing that 265hp...
  11. Forget 1/2 to 3/4 throttle...go FULL throttle!
  12. There is an amp somewhere that powers the sub(I believe). Seems like a saw a post a loooong time ago where someone had shots of an aftermarket sub upgrade and I seem to recall that there was an amp mounted near the sub behind the interior panel. Sorry for the late reply but hopefully you found and resolved your issue. Keep us updated if you have.
  13. I keep a plastic cup in the driver door cupholder...I try to dump it when I get gas if there's anything in it.
  14. I wish I could help you but that's one of only two features I didn't get on my '07 (that and nav). Have you looked up the owner's manual?
  15. Question: how is that outer edge going to hold up when you have to replace your tires?
  16. I also recently bought the Toyo Versado CUV for my '07. They have great smooth ride, however, I'm a little more spirited than most and actually prefer the cornering and handling of the Toyo Open Country H/T that I had previously. If I'm taking a corner quick, the Versado tends to roll (or at least that's how it feels) where the Open Country felt more stable.
  17. Welcome to the forum! I'm 6'4" and the headrests have not been an issue for me but I also probably have the seat leaning back more than most folks.
  18. I tried this procedure but couldn't get it to work successfully, user error I'm sure...However...I was able to configure it to open the glass while the shade remained closed (by pressing and holding the shade close button) and was able to fix a small nick in the vinyl/plasicoat backing of the shade from the top (it had been there since i bought it and the nick let just a slight bit of light in and it just stood out during the day; to me anyway...) I may have to try again later...
  19. Sorry, I understand what you mean now. But I'm not sure why it's operating the way you've described.
  20. Seriously, do tell! This is all that is in owner's manual: To close the panoramic Vista Roof: Press and release the front control until the glass panel stops at the “Express close” position. Firmly press and hold the control again to fully close. When you say it closed to the very end...did you do as the manual describes above, or were you able to close it all the way with one touch of the button???
  21. I have never experienced this problem. When you say 'they will come on when you toggle each switch individually' what switches are you referring to???
  22. and you have to finance with them (FMCC at least) to get one of those $1000s off...plus, isn't it kind of sad that they couldn't use the picture of an actual 2011 model?
  23. I'm sure someone on this forum may be qualified to answer this... It's definitely not a true 5 seater. I've sat in the middle briefly just to check it out and there is no way I could ride there very long. Not only is it narrow, but the seat back of the pull down console is stiff and flat as a board!
  24. Why would we post something like that if we didn't have a problem with the front headrests to begin with??? Kudos to Red for thinking outside the box! As for the rest of you who didn't think of that, someone is disappointed in you....
  25. 1000 lbs of paper files in the back certainly smooth things out too...but it sure robs it of HP and if anyone thought the brakes we bad on an empty Edge...
