I seem to have a thing for gray, turns out it is the exact same color as the wife's 13 Explorer...fledgex is correct, they are OEM with a few scratches...it was an Enterprise rental from FL...only 34k miles on it, a few minor blemishes inside and out that may can clean up, if not, I can live with it for a while. It's been a looong time since I drove a sedan on a regular basis so this is going to take some getting use to...I'm not used to looking up to other people; especially at 6'4"...

and my commute takes me wiithin a couple miles of that...

I'm originally from WR... And I do not miss being below the knat line either!

Yeah, $$$ was the issue and I do like the look of the 2013s. Here is the new ride I took delivery of today:

I'll proudly wear the hat in my Fusion...

Well...got a pretty penny for the Edge from the insurance company, more than I expected. As I have contemplated a replacement now for the last couple weeks, I have decided to keep it in the Ford family (nothing else really impresses me anyway, especially in my budget) and have found a pretty good deal on a 2012 Fusion SEL. I loved my Edge, but I decided to go for more MPGs and the price on this Fusion is actually just under the amount I got for the Edge (but will be slightly more after tax, tag, title, and such). I test drove a few, and even though it's 5 years newer, it very much reminds me of the Edge in terms of comfort and feel, just not as high off the gorund, which I will have to get used to. It does't hurt either that it's Sterling Gray with black leather interior (very much like how my Edge was equipped). I think it will be a pretty good trade-off as long as continue to stop at all red lights again... It's been a fun ride on this forum and the Edge! akirby, guess I'll be headed over to join the Fusion Forum now...

I'll throw my hat in for kicks and giggles... Upgrades from stock included the addition of a hitch, debadged the rear, brake light bulbs replaced (multiple times), and JBL 6X8 door speakers; recent downgrade includes a little front end rearrangement...

I should find out this week what they are going to give me for it. The appraiser said she would give the highest rating possible as everything else on it looked clean and to be in great shape. As much as I loved that car, I think I will take advantage of this opportunity and get something around a 2010 model with better MPGs (Fusion keeps coming to mind); then, once the wife's '13 Explorer is paid off, maybe I'll look to the latest Edge! And maybe by then Ford will have finally come to their senses and put a 3.5L Ecoboost in it!!!

That's interesting about the battery...when I took mine into the dealership recently (http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/3514-odo-data-error/?p=101275) they tested the battery and recommended replacing it...I said, no, I can do that myself and planned to later but then this happened...http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13095-well-glad-i-got-the-tranny-fixed/?p=102177. My terminals were so corroded at one point a few months, it refused to turn over. I disconnected it, cleaned it, reconnected the terminals and it fired right up. I have (err...had) an Optima yellow top battery. After that last incident, I added the terminal rings and the terminal gel hoping that would keep it from happening again. Even after they replaced my sensors, it drove better but still fluttered in 6th gear some so it makes me wonder... You may want to go ahead and replace that battery. Do you know if it's the original? I'm thinking not as my OE only lasted about 2.5 years, the Optima was going on year 4.

Try turning OD off...its not the best solution, but worked for me

Haha...well, it's totaled...appraiser said she stop assessing after hitting $11k; frame rail and subframe/engine cradle would have to be replaced. The only fluid I ever saw was transmission fluid. I would have thought there would have been antifreeze all over the road but never saw any. Now we just have to wait and see what hey are going to give me.

Thank Cindy, and to all who have expressed their regards. Yes, the airbag did deploy, however, I sit so far back that I'm pretty sure we never touched. I was already standing on the brakes and anticipating it so I imagine the seat belt locked up early as well. I was wearing sunglasses and don't recall having to adjust them after getting out. I was probably running about 45-50 before hitting the brakes.

I'm a long time removed from custom car stereos, but I remember adding huge capacitors that were supposed to help soften the draw on the system; that might be something to consider. There are more knowledgeable folks on here that might could address that. Turning O/D off does burn a little more fuel, but my normal commute was getting close to 18 mpg and I'm not light-footed but have backed off some. I liked the way it shifted in that mode as well, which also contributed to fuel consumption.

Went by the 'yard' today to get the rest of my stuff out as I'm thinking now it will be totaled. Here are a few more pics that show corners about 3 inches left of where they should be, plus under the hood, you can see how the engine was raised up...

Turn your O/D off again and see if it still does it. I think you are describing the same thing I've experienced generally when going under 60 mph; when I turn the O/D off, it never does it. I got to where I would turn the O/D off as I pulled out of the driveway and left it off until I was cruising at speeds in excess of 60 mph. I had over 122k miles on mine.

Essentially, I ran a red light while standing on the brakes and didn't stop in time...I was alone, as was the other driver; he had a very minor abrasion from the airbag deployment; no injuries to me either. My biggest tear was over the $ I just dropped in it 2 weeks ago to hopefully drive a few more years...maybe I still will, we'll see what insurance says... Everyone is fine, no injuries, feeling okay this morning too. I can tell there is some soreness in some muscles as I braced for the impact.

Her fever is down, but they are not sure what caused it; flu and step tests were negative but they said keep an eye out for pneumonia as she had a mild case of that about a year ago. We'll spend the day at home today. The week just started rough and continued through yesterday, but I'm not trying to make excuses, I let my guard down and bam! We'll see what insurance says, then go from there...

Not sure if it's totaled or not, but this how she sits now: All that new tranny fluid sits in the road now...Completely my fault; just getting off the phone with my wife as she was taking our daughter to the doctor for a sudden high temperature and realized just too late the light was red; on the brakes hard but hit a Focus turning in front of me. Thankfully, no injuries to either of us.

The sensors replaced for me were: AA5Z-7M101-B Sensor - turbine AA5Z-7M103-B Sensor - output The parts total was $82.56 with labor coming in at $788...which also included a fan and motor replacement ($403) that apparently went bad as well...

You might want to avoid maxing out the tach and speedometer...you might be disappointed... -
Aftermarket Exhaust w/Trailer Hitch?
carbonedge+ replied to sixponies's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I followed you just fine... The OEM exhaust is large and the pics I've seen of aftermarket are generally smaller set ups. I don't think you will have an issue as long as you keep the aftermarket mufflers within the confines of the OEM space taken. -
A sure way to tell...floor it and let it run up the RPMs and shift up a gear or two; let off, wait for about 15 seconds or so and take a good whiff...if you still don't smell anything, you don't have an issue.

I like the gauges and the MFT; it's just like my wife's 13 Explorer. The center console is a little higher which is a little more comfortable to me. The console controls are very sensitive, too sensitive. I like the leather in my 07 better. I think I'll hold on to mine for a while longer!
