I love my Edge; no complaints (pre-MFT/S(T)YNC); 4 years 70k miles and counting!!!
-
I've had that happen several times after I first bought my 07 Edge new. It never did it again until just recently but not near as severe as it had early on. I never got it looked at as it just seemed to sporadic in it's occurrences and I knew the dealer would be unable to 'reproduce' the issue. I'm approaching 70k miles and no mechanical issues despite the occasional hard shift. I'd be interested to hear what the dealer tells you.

How to Add a Subwoofer 2011 edge
carbonedge+ replied to edge535's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The Plus is equivalent to the 2008 and up Limited models. If you have a perforated square panel on the passenger side of the cargo area, you have an OEM sub. My guess is the Plus came standard with the premium sound system which included the sub. Correction, apparently the standard option even in the Plus was a 4 speaker system, the optional 9 speaker system included the sub...I have the 9 speaker system. -
On a more helpful note, my '07 stranded me once and wouldn't take a jump either. After installing a new battery though, it fired right up...

What a waste of coke...should have used baking soda...or pepsi....

Never? If it rolls, it's not on a truly level surface. Is Massachusetts really that flat??? Oh, wait, you're not from Bawston too are you???
-
I see you removed the lettering from the rear; excellent decision...however, not sure I like the blacked out blue oval...looks kind of like a charcoal button nose on the front, but as long as you like it, don't mind me...
-
The only time I've noticed this on my '07 is when I grab the shifter just ahead of pressing the brake. Once I let go and reapply the brake then grab the shifter, it goes right into gear.
-
Not sure about the regular models, but I test drove an '11 Sport Friday. It did not have an O/D button that I saw but the design is much different than my '07 (so there may be something somewhere), but it did have an "M" instead of "L" on the shifter with paddles on the steering wheel to up and downshift.

I could be mistaken, but I believe they may have been on the 2006 Explorers and maybe even F150. I recall looking at these on a dealer's lot prior to buying my Edge in 2006 (and prior to any Edges being on the lot; but those could have been early release 2007 models.)

I've had the 18" chrome clads on my '07 since new and I haven't any problems with them. As far as cleaning, they've been the easiest wheels to clean; I just use a rag and the same soapy mix I use on the vehicle. No peeling, popping or anything...maybe I've been too easy on them...no, that can't be it.

I looked at those (30k+ miles ago) when I needed to replace my OEM Conti's but they didn't make them in that size at the time. I had a set on my wife's Sienna and I couldn't agree with you more! I ended up with the Toyo Open Country HT which has also been a great tire, but now that the Versado is available in this size, will definitely have to consider when it's time. Thanks for the update!

Which cars you compare the Edge with?
carbonedge+ replied to jdf77's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
I compare mine with who ever is looking for a challenge during my commute...the latest has been a GLK 350, but he's a blocker, not a runner. -
It's totally unpredictable; just this morning, seats in the same position mentioned above, daughter (4 yr old) riding in the driver's side rear and it rattles all the way to softball practice and back home. This evening, I go run an errand alone, seats still in the same position, didn't rattle once and I even took the same route as this morning for the most part. One thing that has helped (sometimes) is wedging a piece of a foam noodle between the seat and the handle that leans it back.
-
I have in my '07. Best I can tell it has something to do with the rear seat. I thought it was coming from inside the rear passenger door but with the help of my daughter riding back there we narrowed it down to the seat as when she pulled on the lever that leans it back it would stop. So, I think it is from the hardware connections under the seat that are part of the reclining function. I've actually been riding around the last few days with the passenger side rear seat in the folded forward completely flat position and now that I think about it I don't recall hearing it theblast few days.

I'm glad you saw the humor and didn't take offense to it. However I thought I was being helpful as well. Yes the WD40 will wear off so you reapply; temporary solution, maybe, but the oil in your engine wears out so I hope you change it regularly too; so I guess an oil change is just a temporary solution to prevent the engine from siezing. As for road noise, the only time it really bothers me is when I can hear the tires humming. Wind noise is unavoidable in my opinion and varys based on the vehicle's aerodynamics. The brake grinding is normal and I believe there is a thread on here somewhere that many experienced the same. Yes mine does it too but only that first time for just a few seconds when cold; not that big a deal to me, but that's just me. I really hate that you're having these issues because as you can see so many of us either don't or maybe just aren't as sensitive tosome of the minor issues (or at least what we consider minor...) Oh, and I don't have navigation so that issue I can't truly be helpful with...

the driver's seat squeaks ( the dealer put WD40 - is that a solution ) it only happens if you buckle the seat belt ??? If it works, it's a solution... oh wait seriously, only when you buckle it??? You sure it doesn't constantly squeak as you ride down the road? If so, then I would understand this rant... The navagation system (actually all of Sync) cannot understand me - I have to repeat directions or requests until I am blue in the face and give up. I speak perfect English - Boston accent - ??? It helps to inhale occasionally, prevents the face from turning blue. You sure it's not a Bwaston accent? that could be the issue... The brakes grind whenever it is damp out. Dealer says this is NORMAL - oxidation - once I apply the brakes a few times no more grinding. NEVER has any other car I have owed done this?? Yep, that is normal, mine does the same Not as quiet a ride as one would expect in a new car. I turn the radio down when I want a quiet ride. Maybe I am being picky but for the price I expected more....Any one have any input --please... Yep, I'd say your being picky And remember, you asked for input...

Well, if running at high RPMs is good for it, my Edge is in great shape! It's relatively flat here, but I turn it off more for the fun factor as it holds the shifts a bit longer at the higher RPM range. Otherwise it would already upshift and then have to downshift when you do get an opening in traffic. My commute is mostly 45 MPH zones (some stop and go and several traffic lights) with a nice 55 MPH stretch (27 miles total) and I'll leave it off until I hit about 65-70 on that particular section. Only 23k on a 2007??? Must have been somebody's Sunday driver...

Headliner and trim panels
carbonedge+ replied to ryansdad's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
The only rattle in my '07 comes from the rear seat on the driver's side. At first I thought it was something inside the rear door, but after removing the door panel and the panel inside of that, I couldn't find anything. One day as we were going down the road and my daughter pulled on the handle to lean the seat back and it stopped. I have since cut a piece from a pool noodle and wedged in between the handle and the seat. That seems to have helped. I haven't had any vista roof issues or any trim panel issues; sorry you're having these problems and that I couldn't be of more help. -
actually turning O/D off in older vehicles does do more than just turn it off. It actually acts the same as the grade assist. I generally run w/ the O/D in the off position and when I begin to slow down (tap the brakes even on level grades) it actually down shifts quicker than when O/D is on.

The 2 pocket areas around the spare tire
carbonedge+ replied to bmuir40's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
storage of the receiver hitch (wrapped in a towel) as well as the j-pin lock for the receiver; small hammer; some rags, umbrella (just so there's one in the car as I rarely use it), tie down straps, and I'm sure there is something else stuffed in there as well... -
Thanks for the insight Primetime. I didn't have any problems today, so maybe it was just a one time thing. Just for clarification, mine is not AWD, just FWD. And I keep the tires rotated so they wear fairly evenly. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it and looking for a pattern. Thanks again!
-
How timely this topic is except I haven't had my tires rotated recently... Just this evening, after a warm dry day, doing about 40 mph, the traction control light comes on and you can hear it as if it's kicking in, but there is no loss of traction. Yes, my treads are getting near the replacement levels, but I can't imagine how the system would detect this and even if it could, why would it engage when there is no loss of traction. I'm afraid something else has gone bad, but I sure hope not...

Not sure about the wattage in general, but I do know the sub has its own amp but I would think with the proper wiring harness, all should be well with an aftermarket unit.
