I have an 07 Edge SEL Plus AWD. No where in the manual do I find mention of a TPMS. When I cycle through the trip computer check, it never indicates anything about the tire pressure (my Explorer would say "Tire Pressure Ok" or something like that. I purchased in August 07 (1 year ago). Was this maybe one of those famous Ford "Late Availability" deals? -Larry

Should I let the dealer install a BAMR?
LarrysEdge replied to pables's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Oh good god no! Run like hell I can't stand what a small aftermarket sunroof does the the integrity of the roof, not to mention the headliner. A full BAMR? You'd be better off taking it to Monster Garage and letting Jesse turn it into a pop-up camper Really, factory roof's, especially the one for the BAMR, are COMPLETELY different from non-sunroof roof's. The engineering is completely different. Don't do it! I know this is a late post but... I've been through the the aftermarket sunroof thing and mine was done by the best in the business (ASC) and I HATED IT. -Larry -

In-Channel side window deflectors
LarrysEdge replied to TL Kelly's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I HIGHLY recommend the MacNeil WeatherTech's: http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvproduct...8&Year=2008 I also have this (Cargo Area Protector) http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvproduct...8&Year=2008 And the full set of these (Front/Rear Floor Protectors) http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvproduct...8&Year=2008 This is all top notch stuff, and it fits perfectly. When I bought mine a year or so ago, the 4 deflectors, rear cargo protector and front/rear protectors totalled around $350 shipped. I do not regret it one bit. After one year the rear cargo area and front/rear carpets on my edge show ZERO wear. Not even a footprint -Larry -
Oh, and it also looks like BumperBib is out of business (as best I can tell). What the heck is it with this stuff I guess I'll have to keep flopping that big piece of leftover carpiting over the back end when loading up the Goldens ! -Larry

I am absolutely astonished that after 2 years, it is still impossible to find a QUALITY (the ford part ain't it) piece of rubber for our bumper tops. Astonished... I think I will write a letter to MacNeil. They are great with stuff like this. Who knows... The one on my Explorer was VERY nice. Does anyone know if it will fit the edge bumper top? I don't remember if it had an explorer name in it or not though... -Larry

Painting my dash....over the GLARE!!!

The mere thought of this gives me haunting flash-backs to "Unique Whips", and their judicious use of spray-paint on just about everything. -Larry -
It's been 16 years, but yes I've been through this in the states. I bought a 1991 (or 02, I forget now) Red Bronco Eddie Bauer. The full size one. Took her home, and washed it that next weekend. The red paint flowed off the drivers door and onto the ground. I kid you not. What was starting to appear through the red paint all over the truck. I've heard of hard water, but jeez Anyway, I took it in and the service manager looked at. He said "I can offer to re-paint the truck, and extend your warranty to 100,000 miles" I said no things, I don't want a 4 day old truck that needs a repaint. He said he understood that, he just had to make the offer. He started the buy-back paperwork right then and there. The whole thing took about two weeks. I got every penny invested in the truck back, AND I was offered any new vehicle on the lot I wanted at true factory cost price (not dealer cost). I ended up with a new Eddie Bauer Explorer, close to $30,000 worth (which back then was about all you could spend) for about $20,000. I somehow think it ain't that easy these days -Larry

How many would consider a Ford Flex?

The Edge trip computer isn't as smart as even the one in the 05 explorer I traded in. I was really disappointed in this, but it's one of those things that you don't really look at. I'm also flabberghasted that the 07 edge doesn't have TPS. Fords several years before the Edge have TPS. -Larry

Oh, that sucks. I see ford uses Sage primer though -Larry

If you hate green, get Sage Green. It ain't green -Larry

Have to pay for 2nd key from ford???
LarrysEdge replied to Cappi's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
It's BS. I was issued two keys the second I took delivery. EDIT: Never mind. I see it was used. All bets off. Needed to be negotiated in the purchase. -Larry -
I had no idea what we were actually paying for with these wheels. At $800 ! I didn't even want them, but sometimes you have to take an option or two you don't want when buying off the lot. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to inspect mine... -Larry

Enclave, Outlook, Acadia & Traverse in trouble?
LarrysEdge replied to robertlane's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
I hope not. I think we have the same 6 speed in our Edges. I'm assuming they use the same GM/Ford joint 6 speed auto. -Larry -
Yes! Same thing here. I've brought it up at service times, and all I've gotten so far is "NTF". -Larry

I haven't really had any problems with my 07 SEL Plus AWD, but every now and then I hear a noise when it's first started in the morning. It's a very short (about 1/2 second) fluttering noise from the right-hand side. If I had to describe it, it would be that it sounds like a wiper blade when it hits a dry spot and does that rattle thing for a bit. It's not a wiper blade though It doesn't do it every time. I have no idea how to track something this short and intermittent down. I've also felt the engine is a bit 'ticky' when started the first time when it's cold outside. It usually quiets down after a minute or two. The dealer says NPF (of course). While I'm here, any news on a fix for the weak A/C output? I see tons of people complain about this. It's like the fan output is being directed into a black hole, with only a portion of it escaping through the vents. -Larry

Paint imperfections are a tough call. If it's major, of course it has to be fixed. However, if it's minor, I'm usually of the mind it should be left alone. Mis-matches, paint lines, changes in metallic, etc... You can take a really small issue and it grows to an entire panel in no time. -Larry

I bought a new Edge SEL Plus this weekend, and the dealer put a 'Ford Oval cover in the tow package. I, too, didn't need the Tow package but taking it was inevitable. There are some benefits, though. For the $350, you also get a bigger radiator, better cooling, and I think better transmission coolkng. Should help the overall life of the vehicle. -Larry
