Now that it's here - Trick or quirks you are finding
curlysir replied to choff1138's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Having shown my 70 Boss 302 in Concours class for close to 15 years I have some idea of what good paint looks like. I also don't get obsessive about the paint on a daily driven car that will, despite everything I do eventually get a rock chip or other small imperfections that are almost unavoidable. If you want to go to the extreme, good for you. -
It is more of an annoyance then a stress related item. I am having less issues with the hazard flasher now that I am aware of the problem and don't rest my palm on the lower edge of the screen.

Had mine for almost 3 weeks and no updates yet!

Phone is LG420G Not using BT or USB Audio at the moment!

Obviously from the comments here i am in the minority as I not had any major glitches that i didn't cause. Have had the Edge for about 3 weeks now and i have been able to get every feature i have tried to work. No black screens, blue tooth phone connects (even when I left it in the house once), voice commands are iffy at times but i am getting better. I have not had the system maintenance come up yet, this maybe a time related occurrence. The biggest problem I have had is with the emergency flasher. I think one of the biggest problems with this system is the lack of detailed technical documentation, the manuals are totally lacking in complete and accurate information. Hopefully this system is upgradeable and Microsoft and Ford can get all the bugs out eventually, but I agree that it can be frustrating at times.

I Looked for it also, as far as I can tell it doesn't have one.

2011 Edge All Weather Floor Mats
curlysir replied to rbuergel's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Weathertech does not even list the 2011 Edge on their site. I called them about the Cargo liner and was told 6-8 weeks. I will go with the Ford floor mats and wait on the cargo liner. -

I have been well pleased with Ford accessories in the past. That is why I was surprised about the comments on the Ford cargo liner. -
2011 Edge All Weather Floor Mats
curlysir replied to rbuergel's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Are the Ford Floor Mats good quality Mats? The pictures I have seen indicate that they are. The reason I ask is that I have read where people prefer the WeatherTech Cargo Liner to the Ford and comment that the Ford Cargo Liner is not that good. I know they are different usage but wanted to see actual users think about the Ford Floor Mats. -

Missing any CATS :yup: Seriously nooooow: Could be an alternator bearing if not a bearing on the idler. Also, I have had belts do the same thing but usually after lots of miles. -

Just finished my first extended trip in the Edge. Like others have commented about, my biggest complaint is the location of the &*%# Emergency Flasher. Turned the thing on at least 4 or 5 time while changing something with the touch screen. Really does need to be somewhere else or not so sensitive. Mileage was a little lower then expected. it was around 23mpg but was bucking a headwind so maybe it will do better going back. -

I have never had a problem with a dealer washing a new car. If the dealer takes care of his business he would be a fool to scratch or mess up a car when cleaning it before delivery, knowing he will probably have to fix it if he does. My Edge was washed by the dealer and there was no problem. -
From what I have read here and on other Forums I don't think you can upgrade to the Navigation system if it did not come from the factory with it.. Ask the dealer and see what he says.

Press once without your foot on the brake and you are in ACCessory mode Press again without your foot on the brake and you are in on, just like with a key.

More details here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/5797-2011-ford-edge-tailgate-recall/ Only 71 vehicles involved and the VIN's are listed. Recalls are a way of life these days. Just about every car is going to have a recall for something sooner or later, my 1999 Cadillac, 2004 F-150 and 2005 Excursion all have had recalls. At least they didn't try to cover it up. Appears to be a simple programming fix.

After using it for a week I would say that is worth the extra money. I was a little leery at first also, but now I would want it on any car I buy. Keeps you from running over the slow pokes running 55 in the 70 lane.

Received and installed the NuShield today. Ordered the 175 X 105, fit was not bad, would have preferred that it had been a couple mm taller making it 175 X 107. However, once installed and in use can't tell that it is there. The width (175) is about as wide as it can go and still be semi easily removed. Cleaning the screen and being as careful as I could I still had to lift up the screen and use tape to remove a couple of specks of something. Well worth the money, delivery is quick, installation fairly quick (comes with 2 adhesive tabs on the protective layer to tell you which one to remove first and makes removal easy) and almost perfect fit.

New Programs (US Customers) 10/4/10
curlysir replied to MrHappy's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
I knew I should have waited but patience and never been one of traits, my brochure arrived today and had the $750 rebate. Only problem I closed the deal a week ago today. Got a fairly decent deal (invoice - $1500 incentives) plus an extra key and window deflectors. Would have been nice to have got the $750 but too late now. -
I don't think it is hate just different needs and wants. The missing options and 22" wheels/tires are what ultimately made me go with the Limited
-
I recently purchased a 2011 limited and briefly looked at the Sport, but the missing options were the deal killer for me. I was Leery of the adaptive cruise control at first, but now that I have it, it is a very worthwhile option. What I don't understand is why Ford choose not to add the missing options, HID, Adaptive Cruise, home link, etc. to the Sport. One think that I personally did not like was the 22" wheels, I had enough trouble convincing myself to go with the 20" wheels. The 285 HP is plenty for me and I like the extra MPG.

CARGO LINER not floor mat. I have read about the difference in the floor mats but this topic is Cargo Liner.

This may be the secret to the damn dam, I have FWD and have the damn dam.

I just talked to WeatherTech and they said that theCargo liner for the 2011 Edge is different and would be available in 6-8 weeks. Apparently there must be some difference between the 2010 and 2011 as both WeatherTech and Ford have different Cargo liners. But, from what I am reading here the difference must be small. I would like to get a Cargo liner now but I am concerned about the quality of the Ford mat.
