Me to! Wonder if us Edge owners will be contacted by the dealer or if we have to ask them? Maybe it will appear on the sync site? It should be done as a recall in my opinion as people who are not on these forums or go onto the sync site (for example my parents wouldn't if they owned this car) will not be aware of serious upgrades that need fixing on thier systems such as the White screen of death etc as well as the other stuff like miles instead if km's. I know there is a lot more they fixed but to some they weren't important stuff like the Blue tooth setup and stuff like that but there are some priorities that were fixed and people should and need to be aware and contacted. If and when people get the upgrades, please post how you found out about it e.g dealer or sync site and if all works better now or not.

Actually, I've owned my Edge for about 2 weeks now and haven't even had the chance to open a manual or any other booklet that came with the car lol, I'm winging it for now and so far so good! I wound up selling an old pair or speakers that I owned to a friend and knew I had no choice but to lower the rear seats if I was going to be able to fit them in the car at all. I also remember reading this posting and knew I may be in for some trouble so I was going in prepared for a fight! I started with the seats completely upright to see what the release latch setup was like. I was used to other cars which had a release "push button" on each pole of the headrest but when I looked closely, it seemed like the pole closest to the window had the button sticking out (meaning you can push it in) whereas the other pole had the same exact button but it looked like it was already pushed in?? I found that so odd??? Anyhow, I pushed the button closest to the window in and tried pulling out the headrest. Like everyone else, mine got stuck at the last notch and I could not get it out any further. I tried messing around with the button that already seemed push in and still nothing. I yanked a little and tugged but at this point I knew it wasn't coming off. I looked carefully at the poles and noticed that the side closest to the window was not "stuck", meaning, if I wanted to, this pole could be ripped out, it was loose and it wanted to get out. I then noticed that the other side was not as loose and that it seemed locked. Right away I knew I had to look more carefully at this side and figure out why it was still locked. I was convinced that the push button was broken inside and should have been popped out but with everyone having the same problem, I ruled that out right away. There is something we are just not seeing and I didn't trust to even look at the manual as most of you already have with no luck. I then thought to myself, this car is all about touch and cool tech, maybe that's what I need to mess with the get it out? I started rubbing and caressing the head rest and I heard a latch "pop!! The headrest had actually popped out! I was shocked! I pushed it back in just to make sure I wasn't crazy and tried again...I put the headrest all the way down and swiped my hands across the headrest and poof, it popped again! The headrest it actually touch activated!!! You just need to open your fingers when you swipe to make sure you get the right spot dead on..... . . . . Ok, just kidding lol, the release for the headrest is actually in the MFT menu. On your home page, touch menu, setting, vehicle, and then press "headrest release". It's one of those undocumented features . . . Ok ok....I’ll be serious now!!!! After carefully examining the inside button on the pole that seemed locked, I noticed a hole. This instantly peaked my curiosity so I grabbed an Allen key from my tool box just beside me, the smallest key in the pack, and poked it inside. After doing so, I felt like a little "bump" if you want to call it that and pulled on the headrest and it came right out, very easily and seamless I did try it 2 or 3 times to make sure this was indeed the right way to do it and yes it is, it worked each and every time. I think this is retarded, if I was actually out somewhere and needed to fold down my seats last minute, I would have been screwed. Who carried a tiny little pin or whatever on them at all times and it's stupid that I would need that to release the headrest, to me, this makes no sense at all. I'm lucky I was at home playing around with it, I would have been furious if I needed it down while I was out and I couldn't do it. Also, the rear seat needs to be about 1/2 way down to remove the headrest, if it’s all the way up, you will hit the roof before it's completely out. Here are some picks I just took from my garage 5 minutes ago. Sorry, they are dark but it's just to give you an idea. Please try this out and let me know if it works for everyone

I figured it out!!! I had the same problem as everyone today and looked it over and saw how to properly remove them!!!! On iPhone now, will post info tonight

And when does the general public find out that their dealer has a fix? Will the dealer call or is it going to be posted on the sync site again? I don't doubt the fix is around the corner but want to know who's gonna tell me to bring my car in. Guess we'll have to give it a few more days to see how this gets distributed to Edge owners.

Over the edge: Can let us know if the update will allow the viewing screen we pick as our default e.g. wallpaper to remain the view we chose after restarting the car or does it still default to the 4 big boxes? I think the multiple screen options are useless and stupid if I have to picking wallpaper every time I shut the car off and on again. We should have to simply press "save" and that's what comes up each time we get into our car. If you have a moment, please let us know Thanks!

Congrats! I'm happy for you and that's great news!! How long did you have your Edge before it went in for the update / problem with screen? Glad to see the update is nearing completion (I hope) but if they gave you the "early" release, I'm guessing it's done and they are just testing it now before the public release? I now anxiously waiting for the update to be done on my car! Glad you see some positive changes right away Faster screen...nice!! I find the screen sorta quick but it slows down really slow when I start looking at my music on my USB stick...then it's terrible and there is some lag that I wish was a tad quicker when playing with the climate controls. Nav in KM now...woohooo! That's a positive also! Just to confirm..when you have a destination setup, the directions to turn in xxx amount of distance is now spoken as KM when the voice comes on right? Cold fix - have no idea how an upgrade could have fixed this, I personally thought it was hardware but so be it, if it worked, great! Please keep us all posted on the new things you discover changes with / fixes for. Anything new that the system does or anything you see different yet? If there were 1500 "bugs" as someone mentioned, there must be more than just the 3 you have been able to notice so far.

OMG!!!! I have been thinking the same exact thing for the same exact reason!! I got my Edge 2 weeks ago and like my previous car, I wanted my child seat in the middle as well. I lindens fact that my wife and I can both see her easily and have access to her should something be wrong. Also my daughter loves to look out the front window and see where we are going when driving and my wife enjoys reading to her while she looks at the pictures. When I swapped out the car seat to the Edge, I went right away to instal in the middle seat and quickly discovered like yourself, it doesn't work!! I also had the problem with the head rest facing forward and pushing the seat out not allowing it to fall flush with the seat back, man I wasn't happy about that when I realized I can't remove the headrest or adjust it. I was then forced to instal the seat behind the passenger seat (my wife's seat) as it wasn't a good fit behind my seat due to how back the seat is placed due to my height. My wife and I don't really like it and my girl doesn't enjoy looking at the back of a headrest and seat as her new "view" even though she now has a seat near a window. I tried to remove the head rest in the middle back seat but it looks fixed but would also like to know what people are doing or if they've found a solution?

Could be, i guess we'll have to wait and see as winter is just about here and for some it has already started. Before long, we'll all be in sub zero temps so i'm curious to see what (if any) new issues come up.

I have a question / problem.... After reading this post, I liked what I saw in the "Misc Wallpapers", there were a bunch I wanted to have for my Edge e.g. classic windows screen and of course..the cracked screen! After seeing how many downloads had been done on this one, I figured, why not and tried to download it as well. I tried to open and it would not open the zip file. I did a "save as" to my desk top and was still unable to open it?? I did a left click, and wanted to see if I had some sort of WinZip or something but when I went to "open with", it suggested internet explorer and so I chose that one. Immediately after doing so my computer when bizzerk??!? Tons of windows started opening up, I couldn't control anything and the computer just froze up? When I rebooted, all I got was a blank screen and the computer told me it was trying to search and repair damaged files. It just kept showing thousands of ".tmp" files and was doing things I never saw it do, even or hard shut downs in the past. After the black screen closed, I loaded windows and my Norton Anti Virus was completely corrupted and shut done, gone from my computer. I needed a Norton tech via internet to help me re-load it and even at that, they were totally unable to gain remote access to my computer. Question...for those of you who had downloaded this file, what the heck did you do and have you had any problems?? I am going nuts now trying to figure out if I got some sort of major virus on my computer or not before I go and spend money to have someone do a professional check on it as I am not confident for some reason that all is ok with it now Help please!

Hey Zippy2011, Please keep us posted on what the dealer says. This issue is starting to concern me now, I wonder if Ford had tested this system in sub zero weather, especially the extream cold we can get here in Canada sometimes. I love new cool technology but damn do just miss buttons and knobs sometimes I wonder if the entire mft would ever need to be recalled and redesigned at one point? I know the software has it's issues but this is proving the hardware now to. People need to keep calling the dealers or emailing Sync, they need to be aware as much as possible. If we don't complain or advise them of ongoing issues, they will never know what's going on and what needs fixing. After reading so many posts here lately, I barely enjoy gettig into my new Edge. Instead of being thrilled to own a new car, I find myself watching and waiting for something to go wrong, bug, or stop working. I hate that feeling.

Same here P.S. My dealer is on crack if they think i am paying to fix a problem with thier system...they released it with bugs, they need to fix it..AT NO CHARGE, like people are saying, the car is under warranty for this crap! I didn't call them to advise them of this update but when the official one finally comes out, they better do the right thing.

Hey Freddie, I was on tire rack a few minutes ago about to order my winter tires and they are selling the "reset" tool Ford OEM part they claim for $42.00. I am on the fence about ordering it myself, I don't know how hard it actually is to use it and if this is exactly the part I need so I can reset the sensors myself but the tool they are selling is for the TPMS-12 on the valve stem, not for the band style from older years. Another cool thing is that they are selling the TPMS sensors with valve stems upgradable to Chrome option, something my dealer told me was not an option for my summer 20's I got. I just don't want to have to take my car in to Ford specifically to have the sensors flashed as I have a much nicer and cleaner place in my area close to me that does a fantastic job (for less also) of taking off winter tires / rims and putting your summers back on. I won’t need to take any tires off the rims as I now have a dedicated set for both summer and winter but would hate to keeping having to pay to reset the sensors with each flip over Has anyone used the reset tool? Will the one on tire rack be all I need? My dealer told me you need to get close to each tire and reset it next to the valve stems?

Hey! I didn't order the cargo package on my new '11 Edge, some of the "negative" reviews early on turned me off so I opted not to take it. However, not having the cargo rubber mat to protect the carpet is driving me nuts now! I had to do some reno's this past weekend and wound up taking a cab home from our bog box store while my wife followed me in the Edge as some of the stuff was dusty, and a few bags of concrete mix that could have leaked out of the cheap paper bag it's in. I said no way that's going into my brand new truck! My wife thought I was a freak, got pissed, and all I heard was blah blah blah...dummy....blah blah...why did you buy a truck then...blah blah...we got a good laugh out of it but she was pissed initially when it cost me an extra $20 to get home by cab I like to keep my car CLEAN and just the thought of dirt staining the carpets or getting them super dirty freaks me out so I promised to get a rubber mat ASAP. I started looking tonight for this and remember reading about WeatherTech and how good their stuff is. I was on their site and notice that they do not have anything up yet for the 2011 Ford Edge, only the 2010 model. I read that someone inquired about it being compatible or not with the 2011 and the company could not say yet as they hadn't tested it. The price is $109.00 USD or $149.00 CAD (and the dollar is at par?!?!,,guess I’m buying it in the USA!) Here is the pic: I also came across the this one on Ebay, a genuine Ford part for $79.00 USD: Does anyone know if the WeatherTech mat is really far more superior? It looks really nice, meaning it has some styling to it which makes the cargo area look good, but it also looks thick and made well. Should I jump on the Ford mat from Ebay or wait until the 2011's are out on the WeatherTech site? I was hoping to have this before the snow started but it's not the end of the world if I don't. P.S. Ok, So I figured out that I had to go into the Sync applications part of the mytouch to upload the file, I thought it was going to be automatic and that's why I didn't think I could upload it. So, I did the upload and my screen said "install complete" or something to that idea. I brought the USB back to my computer and tried to do the install confirmation and I got the following error message although it mentions that there is a confirmation file inside the USB?? First I get this: Then i get this...how do i get it to upload the file?? Thanks!!!

Hey Wilsons66604, I finally got my Edge and so far I'm lovin it! Still trying to figure it all out, wow, a lot to learn!! Question...I went to Sync My Ride and I was told I had to do the update of Sync Status Checker 1.3. I installed the download onto my USB stick and inserted it into the car. The car recognizes the USB but says that there is no "readable" formats or something like that, the Edge does not recognize and of the file formats or files on the USB? Am I doing something wrong? I checked the contents of the USB and I seem to have a folder along with an install file? Anyone have any help they can send me? Thanks in advance! Tony

JUST GOT AN EMAIL FROM MY DEALER!!!!! Hi Tony! This is so funny cause I left you a msg at work today saying that your car just arrived!!! Wow!! That was a LOT quicker than I was told and wanted loll and I have no cash to pick it up until next month. I am so discouraged!!!! I was assured no delivery till December and now this....i wish i was more excited to pick up my 1st brand new car Are they allowed to use my car as their test drive vehicle if it's sitting on their lot???
