I've seen no solution yet.

Anyone know if the standard Ford TPMS triggering tool part # 8C2T1A203AB will trigger the new tire pressure sensors in the 2011 edge? It works on the 2010 sensors but they are the band type. thanks,
-
I see the "Poll" is showing an amazing high % of respondents going with the Blizzak DMV1. Is that because that is "Tire Rack's" recommendation? It appears to me that the DMV1 is a bit more than one needs for the Edge and that the Blizzak WS-70 fits the bill better as it has the same load rating and the OEM summer tires at 104; the load rating on the DMV1 is 108. Being that the performance of both tires is relatively the same why would everyone pay $42 more a tire (here in Canada, $245 vs $203)?

Ditto!! Will most Ford dealers have it? If so, do you have a part #? thanks,

Thanks I looked around but only found one that works with older style band type sensors. The 2011 has the new valve stem type. It was a few years ago and the procedures were there as well and $16. I'll contact Ford tomorrow.

Hi all, Going through the winter tire process myself. I was told via a retailer here in Ottawa that the TMPS sensors have to be set-up with the car each time you switch the tires in and out. That would be twice a year at $50 each time; that's what he quoted. So $100 each year plus $200 for the sensors up front. Total = $700 over 5 years. Yikes!!! Can anyone confirm this and / or is there an easy way to do it yourself? thanks,

Wilson, Also I just looked at your picture, I think you can see the snap in the picture. That's about where I pushed it in. If I recall it will snap in and then in my case there still was a little gap somewhere else and I just pushed around there and I heard another snap and it all closed up. -

I had the exact same thing in my car on the passenger side. I just pushed the piece closest to the seat back in and it snapped in place. If I recall I think I pushed it back into place in more than one place and it snapped both times for me. My daughter noticed it on Day 2 of my car. It's been fine since that time and I'm at about 5 weeks now. Must be an assembly problem. I originally thought maybe a temperature expansion contraction thing. -
Woohooo just ordered my Edge 2011

Also never had AWD but I went FWD due to better gas mileage and way less problems with the car. If you check out some web sites on # of repairs the AWD is something like 3 or 4 times more likely to be taken in for repair. Also AWD go for getting going in the snow but stopping is no better than FWD. Never had AWD and I've always been fine in all snow condtitions up here in Canada. -

Just an update on the "Advance Trac" warning and application of the brakes, felt like ABS engaging for split second numerous time, there apparently was a problem with the RCM module. I was unsure that was the reason as I thought the RCM was only for the air bag but....after a week of driving the new RCM module seems to have solved the problem. I guess just a bad part. Glad to hear not too many with everyone... yet....but something seems weird with Ctl-z 's car. I'd take that one in. So, 3,000 km (1,850 miles) and still feeling good about the car. -

I agree with Wilson..., I think it all depends on how much of the potential in the software you use or try to use. Concerning the KM / miles problem, that probably is only noticed by those in Canada as they would most likely have everything in KM. -

Ok, I've had my car a month now and a few problems, 1 major that is not solved yet. First, I agree with everyone that I really like the edge. The Nav system and Sync have some bugs that will be fixed I'm sure. I'm one of the ones with the announcements in miles while everything else is shown in KM. It is a problem with the software not holding the KM setting when the car is shutoff. If I switch from KM to miles and back to KM then all announcements are in KM; until I shut off the car and it defaults back to announcements in miles. This problem has been escalated to enginnering. Nav system takes some learning but works pretty well. Sure wished there were folders and more space for storing destinations. Right now only 25. I've got 25 soccer fields alone. The only major problem I've had is that the advancetrac service warning keeps coming on and this weekend the car started to grab only on the front driver wheel. It felt like the ABS was on for a split second and then off for 2 seconds and then repeated sometimes up to 12 times. Took in on Tuesday and they've narrowed it down to a faulty RCM (restraint control module). I thought that module only dealt with the air bag system. Not sure how it works with the AdvanceTrac or did they tell me the wrong module. Maybe it is the RSC module? Now have no car for 5 days while new part comes in as AdvanceTrac cannot be shutoff manually. Great!! Freddie -
Ok I found the problem and have a short term solution. Just came back from a trip to Toronto. I got the Nav to work properly by going from "Km" to " Miles" and then back to "Km". Then the announcements are in "Km" from then on. If you shut off the car, the announcements go back to "miles". The setting that you use to flip between KM/Miles stays at KM and all the instruments still stay metric but for some reason the announcents default to miles.. What I think has occurred is that a US version of the software was installed that defaults to miles but allows you to switch to km if you travel to Canada. What is needed is a Cdn version that defaults to km and that allows you to switch to miles when you travel to the US. You probably flipped from Km to miles during your 6 hour trip which allowed it to work, then you shut off the car.

Any update? What did the dealer say? Did they have any suggestions?

Hi Tony, Probably only happening with vehicles setup in Canada as no one in the US would have set up with km. Have not heard anything from the dealer yet. He told me he was going to take one of their 2011's that's on the lot and try out that Nav system. That was yesterday but haven't heard back yet.
