  1. If any of you have done this, I'd be interested in seeing pictures. I've got a pretty good bit of metal working tools to work with and feel like I can probably duplicate anything out there, but I'm not very creative... NitroSteel
  2. I want to put a 2" hitch on the front of my vehicle for two reasons: 1) If I do get stuck (not offroading, but for hunting trips on forest service roads), I'd like to have a place on the front to be pulled out from. 2) Same situation, I'd like to have a place to plug in a winch to pull with. We hunted last year, got into some terrible road conditions and were barely able to get out (actually got stuck twice). We were in a FWD Edge and were stuck right in the middle of the road. Had the rear wheels been pulling at all - even occasionally we probably wouldn't have had any problems, but I don't want to take any chances in the future. I was so impressed with these vehicles that I bought an AWD model and don't really anticipate any problems. Thank ya'll, NitroSteel
  3. I assume you must have swapped by now, but it you haven't please email me. Thank you. NitroSteel
  4. Well, it is broken off to short to get the needlenose vise grips on it. I've taken part of the light console apart and have been able to get the bolt that loosens the black box on top of the car. Now the black box is loose and it seems like it would just pull right out, but it is if something is keeping it from lifting up more than about 1/4 of an inch. I can't see any clips holding it in either from above or below, but something is holding it. I'm planning on taking it off of the vehicle and drilling out the old antenna that is broken inside (using an easy-out) I've not completely removed the sunglass holder, because I can't see exactly what's holding it in and I don't want to break anything. Is there something behind here that is holding in the box? What is holding the box from sliding out of the roof of the car? Thank you. NitroSteel
  5. Thank you! That's simple enough. With it removed from the vehicle it will be much easier to try and remove the remainder of the existing antenna. I assume it was "threaded" in, right? NitroSteel
  6. By the way, as you can see I am new as a user on this forum. I wanted to put out a big "thank you" to all of you for the information posted on this site. I have used this site as a resource in choosing a vehicle for quite some time, just never actually joined or posted. Thank you again for the abundance of information and your help. NitroSteel
  7. I noticed yesterday that on my new (to me) 2008 Ford Edge SEL AWD that the antenna over the windshield was broken off at the black plastic base. It is the simple am/fm antenna, not a satelite radio model. The radio reception is now not what it should be unless I am in town... I can probably get the threaded portion of the antenna out of the base and just thread another antenna into it. The base itself is not damaged, however in the event that I cannot remove the remainder of the treaded stud I assume I will have to replace the entire piece. I have a few questions regarding this: How is this piece attached (detached?) from the hood of the vehicle? Where is the best source to obtain this at a reasonable price? Should I just take it to the dealership and let them do it? Thank ya'll for your help. NitroSteel
