  2. New features for the Lincoln MKS sedan. As it states in the video, "Ford says all that stuff is coming down the road" Possible integration in some other '09 models. Eventually technology like this will do away with DVD navigation based systems. Except there has to be a way to up-link what you want to a central info distribution center to send you back your requested info. GM does it with their system, so it's possible. When your locked into power, reliability and performance, you need to find another technology to stand out from others. Now it's going to Digital integration. Sync/Sirius. Price? Look for this feature to add to the monthly subscription.
  3. Sync vs. Nano Sync is both a hands-free, Bluetooth-based phone system and a voice-activated music player that's compatible with iPods and plenty of other media devices. It's a neat idea, but the software is buggy and the interface is inconsistent. The most annoying problem during my week of testing was that the car kept switching on the Bluetooth music function of my cellphone, even after I had turned it off. Sync also had a problem finding some of the music on my iPod nano. Ford said that if the song, artist, album and genre data tags for a song are not all filled in, Sync will ignore the track, but even Ford's chief engineer for Sync couldn't explain why the system could play the same files from my iPod Shuffle. The irony of all ironies is that I was entirely unable to call my main public-relations contact at Ford using Sync because the voice-recognition system couldn't parse his two-syllable name, no matter how I said it. It seems that Ford has bought into the common software industry practice of beta-testing new technology on early adopters. Ford maintains that Sync's software has the potential to be updated, and engineers are already busy working on version 2.0 of the system. However, the company remains undecided on what, if any, upgrade path will be offered to customers http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1195164866...hs&ru=yahoo
  4. There is at least one if not 2 other threads on this.. Use the search function. You could say more info in your post when you write about it. I have to assume, you are in Neutral and not putting your foot on the brake, by the way you wrote about this.
  5. Roll it slowly up and down your drive and listen... Not to alarm you or anything, but I once had my tires rotated. I got less than 2 miles away and the left rear wheel passed me as I was going down the highway. The grease monkey didn't put the lug nuts back on that wheel. If your sure where it's coming from, have someone walk beside you to verify, and pull the wheel off to see if you can find the problem. Be glad yours is white. the red and black have now got major problems.
  6. Just that and one or 2 other items Incase you didn't notice, when you price a "limited" your already into the Lincoln price range.
  7. Oh GAWD... Red, now black.. Since there are so few white ones, I think the white is safe for a while. Someone mentioning a Flash for a computer. that means it might have gotten hit from a virii.. SYNC?
  8. Well let's put to rest the idea of Plastic on an MKX. At least on the MKX, these are .010 - .015 inch think Stainless Steel Stamped Applique's. I did not take a pic of the outside of the wheel. Actually all the pic's I did take were too big to upload here, so I had to shrink them. This one shows the wheel size and in this one and it and the next, you can see the thickness of the metal The last one, you can see how the metal is bent into the recessed wheel hub area. This only pertains to the Lincoln, the Edge people will have to make a detailed examination of their own. It always felt like metal, and I'll also guess it's Polished 304 SS since it had a slight magnetic attraction, due to it having been stamped.
  9. Really?? I figured they were just identical to The Edge except for material. ie plastic. Sure. I'll try to get a shot tonight then. Actually Everyone should at least remove one wheel to get a feel for how to change a wheel/flat. You know when I would pull at the Edge of it with a fingernail, it did sound/feel like metal. I always wondered why people called it plastic.
  10. yea.. Good hands was right, better go with aftermarket Here is my light hearted reply. You walked into a Ford dealer, sat down and went thru the order catalog, told him you wanted to order a '08 Limited, told him you wanted the 20's also. But while your their, you didn't look at any on the lot, never noticed that every one of the chrome was that cheap plastic, or ask him if he thought the 20's would have the same cheap plastic hub caps? Then when it came in, in your excitement, you zoomed it home and once home, you saw how Ford ripped you off, buy charging that outrageous price for the wheels and had the nerve to label them "Premium" Yea I see your point now. Always wondered why they call it a Limited when everyone can get their own Limited ..
  11. Someone just damaged a wheel and is wondering if his package will cover replacement, of course us experts here don't think so, but maybe he will get lucky. We've asked if he can pull the Trim Ring off and see what you've asked. I have had all 4 of mine off and cleaned the back side of them. - they were dusty. Looking at it from that side, the casting is full size to the trim ring on the customer side. Mine are only 18" wheels, - I do wish they were 20" , but I can live with what I got. After all, a new pair would just mean I have to store the old ones. M&S Tires & AWD will get me home even if I have to drag it home in the winter.
  12. Before they were calling it Euro-clad.. guess that's been going on over-seas now for a while and has been a standard feature at Ford for quite a while. Listen if your not wanting to put money into other wheels after you have this, Your wheels are still pretty good. Matter of Fact I just talked to a person who owns a Ford T-Bird, it's still under warranty and will be getting it's fourth and final "NEW" Chrome wheels. Yes real chrome that has pealed off each and every one. Problem? It's chromed Alum. Wheels, the outside is polished, the backside is a Flash Chrome, and then painted. Seems Road salt, brake dust gets into the paint and really goes to town now on that Alum. and causes the chrome to peal. You were shocked to find it's an overlay, well now that you know this, start looking at other vehicles on the road and you'll see it's not just Ford that is doing it, almost every manufacturer is. Their easy to clean and stay nice unless you curb them, and every wheel gets destroyed if that happens. Plus side? NO RUST!
  13. Your about a year late to the party. Didn't you look at it before you bought it?
  14. It took me over 5 months to get a vehicle I oredered in '05. When it arrived, the window sticker even had my name on it from the factory. During that time, the price had increased. I didn't get the price of , when it was ordered. it was the delivery price. I didn't get the incentives of when I walked in to order. I got the incentives of what was current when the sales papers were signed. Their sales papers. Unless your paying for it in full when you order, you get the price when you drive it home.
  15. Your price is never locked in when you order. Your price is the price you pay when you are about to walk/drive away with it. thus, if the price of the Edge goes up $8K, from the time you placed an order to the time you take delivery.
  16. What do you want me to say? I'm not going to sugar coat anything, if the Fed. gov. does the mileage numbers at up to 80 MPH and with air on and comes out and says a FWD gets 24 on the highway and an AWD gets 23. you may beat those by 1-2, but no 28 MPG. Mileage is more dependant on Tire pressure and Right foot than anything else. Kirby tried to thrown some words in, but his point wasn't made. Actually it was useless because according to him the published numbers used an 80, air and only gets 24, WITHOUT PEOPLE IN IT AND NO AIR RESISTANCE. Basically, I don't think I've ever seen one post from Kirby where he even talked that he HAD an Edge. As far as I know he just frequents Ford message boards and likes to talk the most about x-plan's because he is employed with a "Partner" to Ford. When you deal with people that say some thing's like, I get 28, or help, my HID won't work. and that's it. You can always send one liners back and forth, or you can make your point with all the info.
  17. ??? I ordered a vehicle back in '05. I personally had the number to call and get the status. Each time I called it was clean and unscheduled. Something like 4 months of that. To me, it was just personal information.
  18. Kirby, i don't give a rat's flying butt what it states, I've given the example of what mileage is or how to tell others what you have. WHAT are your mileage numbers? Wait i just checked mine and now I'm getting 32 mpg with AWD... care to top that one? I said I got 32, want to believe me or not?
  19. Using this interface, the iPod will take the place of the Ford Sirius satellite tuner, providing you with the most interactive Ford iPod interface available. In other words, you lose the Sat. Radio function . Sat. Radio now controls your iPod PIE FRD04-POD/S FORD LINCOLN IPOD ADAPTER 2005-2008SKU:FRD04-POD/SPrice:$169.99On Sale For:$160.00 <script language=JavaScript type=text/javascript>
  20. That's almost impossible to believe. It's rated higher than the Fed. Gov. standards that only test highway milage at 50 MPH. and here you state it's with the A/C on. I'd believe you more if you listed a mileage log of what your mileage was on each tank. and the number of gallons you put in at each fill. I can get a number like that to if I hit reset and drive for 10 miles and see it state 28. Then it drops when I start to slow and do some real world driving. Sorry, your mileage is to far out to be believable even for a FWD
