Its a glass mount on the passenger side rear glass - not the best as far as gain, but my only option.

I can relate .... On my former Expedition. I come out of work one day to a flat front tire. I was pissed, but it happens. I open up the back, get the jack out, loosen up the lugs, open the hood, take out the crank for the jack/spare, lift the truck, remove front tire. Go to rear of truck to lower spare, insert crank in hole proceed to turn handle, turns quite easily....????..... Get down on one knee to find...... my spare was stolen. Buggers cut the cable that hoists and holds the spare in place. I freaked out. Now all four on my Edge......Look out!

All of my electronics are located in the spare tire well. For the rear Lic plate I threaded the leads thru the rubber boot that goes from the vehicle to the rear hatch, this was a major PITA. The rear trim panels (all of them in the car, in fact) come off real easy just pull the two screws in the hand holds and they just pop off. I was then able to remove the entire back trim piece ( ford logo) that has the lights for the plate in it by unbolting 4 nuts, these are found below the rear glass in access holes. You will need an extension and a deep socket. I then threaded the wires for my lights thru the existing weep/drainage holes and attached them with 3m tape. No drilling necessary! ( I bought mine so I can go a little further, call me a whacker)

Here is my Edge...... I have put in strobes. Difficult job in front as you must remove entire front bumper and grill to remove headlights/markers. To install strobes w/o removing headlight assembly causes shavings to accumulate in the housing ( dont ask how I know) use a shop vac in the removed hi beam lamp hole to vacuum while drilling. Do the same in the rears ( dont ask again) Here is a link to a video... http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee224/c...nt=CIMG1013.flv

HID Lights

This will be an unsolvable problem for you. It has to do with how the remote starter energizes specific systems in the car. -
HID Lights

Its scattered b/c of the reflector being optimized for a halogen incandescent bulb. This is the primary reason aftermarket HID lights aren't street legal. That being said it is not as bad as I expected it to be. I will see if I can get a pic. -

Install 2-way radio and antenna
chazman1117 replied to wkcarr's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I have an edge w/ bamr and I dont have much to work with. There isnt a suitable ground plane on mine w/ the bamr. Without the bamr, and without drilling a hole, I think you have much the same problem. -
HIDs flickering then going out :(
chazman1117 replied to Craiger's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I attempted installing a PNP Hid setup. Did both Fogs and primary lights. Did relays for both. Had nothing but problems. I went as far as installing diodes and 4700uf caps inline , still had flickering. IMHO it not worth the headache. Reinstalled the stock bulbs. :-( Love the look, not working on my Edge. BTW I have 07 SEL + w/ autolamps. -
Outstanding work! That being said... I would be very concerned with the fiberglass on the a pillar as the airbag runs under it and in a deployment situation the fiberglass would become projectiles. Please reconsider this.

I have about 3600 mi on my 07 and I had the same rubber burning smell on mine for the first 100~ miles. Worked it self out in my Edge- hopefully in yours as well.

Do you have the subwoofer? It should be a direct drop in if you have the subwoofer- Not sure of the climate -
Ford IDS programming rates
chazman1117 replied to chazman1117's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Coppermine33: Wow great info - I am interested but dont go run out just yet - I still have to get the head unit in hand. I will keep in touch. Chaz -
Related to another thread, I am interested in possibly getting a OEM nav system reprogrammed by my dealer and I am wondering what a typical charge would be for this service. I know that this uses the obdII system and should be relativity quick. But the dealer I went to wanted $400.00 to reflash this radio, which I think is ridiculous. Any Input? Chaz....

I am working on adding some emergency warning lighting to my Edge and I would like to add strobe lights to the marker lights in the front headlight assembly. Does anyone here have any insight as to how to remove the entire housing from the vehicle on both sides so that I can get to the back of the unit? Thanks!

OEM Navigation Radio Installation after purchase
chazman1117 replied to rl07edge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Did you have to have this unit reprogrammed to work in the Edge? -
Well I just picked up my Edge SEL+ yesterday! Black on black + bamr, 18" chrome Saturday it gets tint + alarmed. So far I love it. I am working on installing some accessory lighting ( I am a Volunteer EMT) and I must sat that Ford has made it easier to remove interior trim and panels. This makes life so much easier and stress free. Anyone running wiring knows what I am talking about. You just have to look out for all those airbags!
