  12. Ford Motor Company Launches New Warranty for Ford Genuine and Motorcraft® Parts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0wRMAd-gGA Ford Motor Company will announce at the annual Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) trade show on Nov. 6 the launch of a new warranty on Genuine Ford and Motorcraft service parts. The new warranty provides unlimited mileage coverage for 24 months from time of purchase or installation. Ford will also now reimburse fleets and independent repair facilities up to $150 in labor coverage. Ford continues a No Commercial Exceptions policy as a commitment to fleet customers. “The Ford backing, clarity of terms, labor coverage and access to our nationwide network for coverage, provides greater value and peace of mind for all our customers whether they are general consumers, fleet operators or independent repair facilities,” said Jay Davis, General Sales Manager, Ford Motor Company. Ford’s part warranty provides customers towing reimbursement for repairs completed at any Ford or Lincoln Dealership. The warranty also provides Independent Repair Facilities the ability to complete repairs for customers by securing parts from a dealership or Ford Authorized Distributor. All customers benefit with more options on how they can have their vehicles serviced. Ford’s previous service parts warranty was 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurred first, and labor was covered if the part was installed by a Ford or Lincoln dealership. Labor was not covered on parts sold over-the-counter to a fleet or installer.

  17. Ford Invests Millions in Cleveland Engine Plant, Supports Growing Customer Demand for EcoBoost Engines Ford plans to more than double its EcoBoost®-equipped vehicle sales globally this year Production of 2.0-liter EcoBoost for North America at Cleveland Engine Plant in Ohio to begin in late 2014 Ford more than halfway to its goal to create more than 12,000 hourly jobs in the U.S. by 2015 Production of 2.0-liter EcoBoost engines for North American vehicles moves from Valencia, Spain to Cleveland; Valencia will remain the exclusive production location for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine for Ford of Europe-built vehicles; There is no impact on employment at the Valencia plant Cleveland Engine Plant Fact Sheet Ford EcoBoost Forum – To meet rising consumer demand for the award-winning 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine, Ford Motor Company will invest nearly $200 million and add 450 new jobs at its Cleveland Engine Plant. “This is our One Ford plan at its best – giving customers the power of choice to decide which fuel-efficient engine is best tailored to their needs,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas. “Cleveland Engine Plant was the first to produce EcoBoost engines and will continue to be a cornerstone of Ford’s strategy to deliver affordable fuel economy for millions.” The hiring builds on the creation of more than 8,100 salaried and hourly jobs in the U.S. last year, including 1,000 in-sourced hourly positions. Ford is more than halfway to its goal of creating 12,000 hourly jobs in the U.S. by 2015 to support new products and investment. Additionally, the company announced last month it plans to hire 2,200 salaried workers in the U.S. in 2013 to fill jobs in such key areas as Product Development, Manufacturing and IT. Production of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost for North America is currently based in Valencia, Spain. The investment in Cleveland will shift North American production to Ohio, while Ford’s Valencia Engine Plant will remain the exclusive production location of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost for Ford of Europe-built vehicles. Valencia will continue to produce and ship parts for these engines to North America. Overall employment at the Valencia plant will not be impacted. The Valencia Engine Plant will transfer some employees to Valencia Assembly Plant to support increased production for C-MAX, Kuga, Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect. Ford is making the move to assemble engines regionally to help meet rising consumer demand for the award-winning 2.0-liter EcoBoost and to optimize production capabilities around the world. Production of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine will begin in North America in late 2014. Cleveland Engine Plant currently builds the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and 3.7-liter V6. The Ohio facility employs approximately 1,300 people. It has built more than 500,000 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines since 2009. EcoBoost cornerstone EcoBoost is the cornerstone of Ford’s global engine strategy to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Ford will expand EcoBoost production to 1.6 million engines this year – nearly 100,000 above the previous target. Delivering up to 20 percent better fuel economy than larger-displacement engines, EcoBoost uses smaller overall size combined with turbocharging, gasoline direct injection and variable valve timing to bring customers outstanding performance without sacrificing fuel economy. This year EcoBoost will be available on more than 90 percent of North American nameplates and by 2015, 95 percent of Ford nameplates will be available with EcoBoost engine technology. In 2013 Ford expects to sell more than 500,000 EcoBoost-equipped vehicles in the U.S. – a sizeable increase over the 334,364 EcoBoost vehicles sold in 2012. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine to be built in Cleveland is currently available in the Ford Explorer, Edge, all-new Escape and all-new Fusion, Focus ST, Taurus and new Lincoln MKZ and MKT Livery. The engine has won a coveted Ward’s 10 Best Engines trophy each year it has been available in North America.

  20. Ford Edge Ecoboost Review Auto Blog / Chris Shunk The sport utility vehicle became an endangered species not long after fuel prices began to skyrocket. But while vehicle buyers changed their shopping habits, they didn't actually stray that far from the SUV formula. Many of today's hottest-selling vehicles are crossovers; essentially the same tall wagons as the SUV, but with a lighter unibody chassis. Among other things, the CUV promised to deliver superior efficiency, and while some improvement has been evident, in many cases, the genre's fuel savings have failed to impress. A good case in point is the Ford Edge. READ MORE HERE
  21. Ford Edge 2.0L Ecoboost Models Start Shipping The 2012 Ford Edge delivers 30mpg on the highway hwy and 240 hp and 270 lb.-ft of torque with the 2.0L EcoBoost. It’s here! The 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine is available in the 2012 Ford Edge and Explorer, shipping to dealerships as we speak! It can be had in the front-wheel-drive models. And by the way, you thought the Edge and Explorer boasted great fuel economy before? Equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost, the Edge with EcoBoost has a hearty EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. Meanwhile, the Explorer has an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, which is a 30 percent highway fuel-efficiency increase over the most economical previous-gen 2010 Explorer. Both applications will deliver 240 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. The Edge and Explorer are the first vehicles in North America to be offered with the new 2.0-liter engine. The EcoBoost marks the next chapter in the Ford strategy to downsize engines and use turbocharging and direct injection to deliver the power and fuel economy you crave. The EcoBoost does this by combining a smaller displacement with a turbocharger and gasoline direct injection to provide the power of a normally aspirated V6 with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder engine. Moving forward, EcoBoost engines will continue to deliver more power and fuel economy from smaller-displacement engines; Ford has committed to offering fuel-efficient, high-technology EcoBoost engines in 90 percent of its global vehicle portfolio by 2013. The Explorer EcoBoost fuel economy is optimized with aggressive deceleration fuel shutoff (ADSFO), twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), an efficient six-speed gear span in its 6F35 automatic transmission and a smooth aerodynamic body. The Edge too maximizes fuel economy by combining the advanced EcoBoost powertrain with ADSFO and Ti-VCT, but adds active grille shutters to improve aerodynamics. Active transmission warmup for the 6F35 gearbox reduces internal friction immediately following engine startup. “An expanded array of customer choice marks the Ford showroom for 2012,” said Ford President, The Americas, Mark Fields. “An EcoBoost powertrain puts Edge and Explorer fuel efficiency over the top, while the next-generation Ford Focus brings an extended portfolio of models with premium technology, comfort and convenience offerings.” That’s right – if the Focus is more your style, it too is powered by a new engine, a 2.0-liter gasoline direct-injection four-cylinder, delivering an EPA-estimated up to 40 mpg on the highway, with a class-leading 160 horsepower and 146 lb.-ft. of torque, and a fuel-efficiency improvement of 10 percent and 20 percent more horsepower than the previous-model Focus engine. The advanced technology uses Ti-VCT to increase responsiveness, boost fuel economy and reduce emissions. Plus, an available Super Fuel Economy package for the Focus SE adds low-rolling-resistance tires, aerodynamically optimized wheel covers and rear disc brakes.
