Saff
I was just wondering at what mileage did you do your first oil change? It used to be on a new vehicle, manufactures would want you to change oil after the first 500 - 1000 miles. The belief was that's where the initial wear, metal shavings, etc. would occur during a break-in period of a new vehicle. My wife has about 700 miles on her new Edge. I'm going to change the oil & filter at 1000 miles. I will be switching to a full synthetic oil such as Mobil 1 , then just do my regular changes at 7,500 and so on. I used to change my conventional oil every 3,000 miles but with the price of oil/gas I changed to 5000 miles. Now I believe switching to a full synthetic and going with the recommended 7,500 mile change I will save money and be giving my vehicle the best protection. Any thoughts? Grey
This has been beaten to a pulp several times. Do a search and amaze yourself with the information available from this fine forum. :shades:
solas989
Agreed - especially between Grey and me. My thoughts - still change at 1000 miles. His thought, leave in at least 3000 miles. I changed to Amsoil at 1000 miles. Solas
Grey
The filter will remove debris. If you are paramoid, change just the filter at 1,000 miles. Leave the factory fill oil in for at least 3,000 miles to seat the rings,
